Sistema Auto-sustentável/sustentável de agricultura e criação de galinhas caipira.
Dentre algumas formas de SAF (Sistema AgroFlorestal) envolvendo a criação de animais controladores de praga (como galinhas, galinhas d'angola, coelhos, minhocas californianas no solo etc.), o mais simples e comum é a criação de galinhas caipira.
Tanto pela resistência da maioria das raças de caipira, tanto pelo custo relativamente baixo de tratamento delas (rações DIY, vacinas baratas, remédios caseiros faceis de fazer etc.) e também pelo fato dos beneficios de cria-las. Podendo aproveitar a carne delas, os ovos, o esterco das fezes e o seu comportamento ecológico natural (como descrito abaixo).
As galinhas, em ambiente aberto verde, tem o comportamento padrão de ciscar, procurando insetos, minhocas, grãos e pequenos matinhos para comer. Uma forma eficaz de implementa-las em uma SAF é solta-las na horta, no curral e/ou em alguma área específica que você quer que elas "adubem". Por exemplo, se você quer plantar em uma região de solo pobre em nutrientes, terra seca e compactada, ácida etc. Você pode espalhar de forma bem espaçada a seguinte mistura: grãos de milho, quirela de milho e algumas PANCs de sua preferência (como folhas de moringa, feijão guandu e sorgo).
As galinhas vão ficar nesta região ou envolta, ciscando o chão, e também defecando. Fazendo isso por mais ou menos 1-2 semanas você irá notar que elas vão para lá naturalmente, mesmo nos dias que você parar de jogar as PANCs lá, por estarem acostumadas. E lá defecaram, ajudando a adubar a região.
(Vale ressaltar que este local não pode ser muito longe do galinheiro, para evitar que elas "fujam" para muito longe.)
Um uso mais prático das fezes das galinhas é o adubo orgânico, que você faz misturando partes iguais de fezes com material seco orgânico (por ex: palha seca, papelão sem tinta, galhos, palha de cana etc.), e deixando isso tampado por 30 dias, revirando bem com uma enxada uma vez por semana. Depois jogando encima do solo que você quer adubar. Para usar na água (diluindo) você deve esperar no minimo 40-50 dias, depois dilua em água, usando a proporção de 50g para 1 litro d'água. Jogando com um regador sobre a terra.
