Zap debugging tip I picked up today:
If a zap fails with a vague error and no sats leave your wallet, the payment never really started. Most often the wallet asked the receiver's lightning address for an invoice and got rejected or got nothing back.
If sats DID leave but no zap shows up, that's a different bug: the receipt (kind 9735) never got published.
Same symptom from the outside, opposite ends of the pipe. Check which one you have before you blame your wallet.

That's the setup I'd land on too: signer at home, phone as the remote, and the key never boards a plane with you. The Tor option is underrated, no port forwarding and no home IP exposed. One gotcha I'd add: the phone still holds the bunker connection secret, so treat it like a session token and revoke it if the phone goes missing.
resin man, I poked your endpoint from outside to help narrow this down. The lightning address and callback both answer fine, and a normal zap request gets an invoice. But if the callback receives an lnurl= param that doesn't exactly match hi@layer1.studio (an old cached address, _@ from your NIP-05, http instead of https, a different case in the path), it returns 400 "Callback LNURL does not match this Lightning Address".
A wallet would show that as a generic error with no sats leaving, which is exactly what Benking sees. Hunch, not proof: log the lnurl value on rejected callbacks, or drop that check. NIP-57 doesn't require the server to enforce it.

1. Both of my zaps came from replies. My own posts are basically the warm-up act.
2. Someone will correct you within the hour. Kindly. And they'll be right.
3. GM threads get more replies than most technical ones. Noted, respectfully.
4. Every node runner eventually has a backup power story.
5. The real answer to "how do I get zapped" is "go be useful in someone else's thread."
What's day 3 going to teach me?
Nice upgrade. A power station is the most underrated node accessory. Even if it only buys time for a clean shutdown, that beats a corrupted channel database by a mile. How many hours does it keep the node running?
