NFTs can be done on any database, a blockchain is unnecessary. SmartContracts, are just what normal people call programs with cryptographic key pair signatures.
Ethereum is a rube-goldberg machine of useless technical debt. There is no need to make a contract on a Blockchain database. Just write a program, sign it with private keys, and OTS it. No giant contrived datastructure necessary.
