Subconsciously, I had very unrealistic expectations of the gay community when I Came Out.
I had always been a social orphan/lone wolf. Even when I had a friend or three, I could still feel very alone. The only guy with glasses, the only short guy, the only lefty, the only boy.
So I unknowingly assumed It would be easier. Friends would happen like the movies. People would just "get" me. I would finally, seamlessly, belong.
Nope. And it kinda crushed me for awhile.

We usually take Crixus' collar off at night (aka "Naked Puppy Time") and then put it on in the morning ("Official Puppy")
Sometimes we "forget" to put it on, which leads to a few days of Naked Puppy Time. This was the state of things last night.
Crixus brought us his collar! 🐕 Which had been hanging on a hook. J asked, "Official Puppy?" Crix did the happy dance, and stuck out his neck, tail wagging.
He seems to see his collar like its a special necklace from his Dads. 💜🥰

One thing I love about Halloween is that I live in an apartment, so nobody is coming to my door. There is one kid in this building, lives across the hall from us and he's the quietest 14-15 year old I've ever met. I hear their dogs sometimes, but never him.

I am bitter about Garfield.
In hindsight, it's obvious that he was a carefully crafted vehicle for selling merch and nothing more.
I am surprised Jim Davis openly admitted it. That's why Garfield was never edgy, deep, or profound. You don't need to be to sell suction-cup window dolls.
So, that's an easy thing to leave by the dumpster, 20+ Garfield Books.

I want to try these scooters that are everywhere, but I am a bad driver(which is why I don't drive) and I am not great a balancing on moving things. I can't skateboard, and I spent an afternoon being dragged underwater trying to waterski.
I still want to just get up early or stay up late and rent one so that I can try it out when the streets are empty and nobody's out to watch me eat pavement.

My dog LOVES fireworks.
I swear we got so lucky with him.
We see 2-4 displays north and south of us. Great view from the pier out back. Crixus, runs back and forth barking at the booms, tail wagging. Like he thinks it's a game, Boom, Bark!

Interesting how we change over time. I used to spend HOURS clipping music and movies to give everyone in my contacts their own ringtone. Because google voice allows it, I even set up personalized outgoing VM greetings, "Hey Mom and Dad, thanks for calling...", "Hey coworker,...", "Hey friends,..."
Now?
When my phone rings I miss the call or accidentally hang up 'cause I have no idea how to answer this phone, it rings so rarely.

We were walking the dog and J wanted to go to the convenience store a block away.
When he was crossing back, some asshole turning leftt nearly creamed him in the crosswalk, he had to jump out of the way. Wished he'd thrown his can of soda at their tail light or something.
The next light was red, and I could have ran over there and, I dunno, scared the crap out of them.
We are shook. I want to beat someone bloody.

I just had my own Mandela Effect moment.
I have been pronouncing it FOIL-age forever, and I could swear that was because it is spelled that way. I usually recognize when something is phonetic like that.
I really thought "Foley-edge" was the affected mispronunciation "trying to sound smart" path.

@npub1scp…6zy8 It's more that I'm just disillusioned with the way they work. They are far too quick to cancel things for fear of actors/writers wanting more money because their show is a hit. Too many shows cancelled with a cliffhanger.
Too many stories snuffed before they even hit their stride.
And they are propping up some BS like Dave Chappelle and a psychic medium

To be fair, I'm antisocial because most of my coworkers live near work, or in west/south burbs and I live way up on the north side of the city.
Also, one of my two trains is an express train that only runs during rush hours, so if I were to hang out after work, I'd miss that train and almost double my commute home. I stopped going to the big all-division holiday party because its such a slog home afterwards (and COVID)

They weren't that bad until the last two weeks.
Today, they seem to be suggesting I need to mail them the phone before they'll send a replacement. I will be calling them tomorrow and asking for a supervisor. It's not an option for me to go phoneless, so if they can't help me, sounds like I'll go back to TMobile.

And today, 8 days later, the screen is coming off of this replacement device, too.
Google Fi customer service is on crack. They are telling me to just send in the phone without a replacement.
Not happening, I need my phone in order to log into work, there's a verification app. I will be calling them tomorrow.
