For people in contexts with more universal healthcare systems like in Canada and UK, Bitcoin is still relevant even though it may seem that healthcare is free. Someone has to pay and it’s through taxes and revenues at federal and more local levels (provinces etc.).

The beginning discussion during this pod reminds of how much the school of thought or theories we cling to can shape a given field.
Like in economics health sciences and medicine are full of competing schools of thought when it comes to the cause, treatment, and prevention of certain diseases.
Drawing on some recent Nostr discussions, could germ theory be the Keynesian equivalent built on fiat incentives clouding the way in which mainstream approaches the study of disease, prevention, and treatment of disease? Saifedean in his writings on fiat science touches on some of this.

Yesterday marked a major milestone for Dream Grad Academy (DGA). With @nprofile…pk2l we were able to give a lecture on a Canadian campus to a classroom full of global health students!
They learned about BTC circular economies and how bitcoin can empower the unbanked. Over 10 students signed up to take the 1-hr @npub17cy…4ml3 course with DGA in November.
After this, DGA aims to gather a cohort of students to do the 10-week My First Bitcoin diploma.

Fiat money in particular. Money will not solve health problems alone but is a tool that can be used to help maintain a healthy lifestyle and build healthy environments.
If the money that one works for is taxed through inflation this potentially has negative consequences. If you have time to look at the article, figure 2 shows how fiat money might impact health.

Great, I appreciate your feedback once you get a chance to read it. Yes, there is anecdotal proof of people becoming more spiritual. For example, Dr Satoshi, a real physician talks about this on his YouTube channel among other related changes people experience once they start adopting bitcoin in their lives.
I agree that video proofs and documentaries are powerful tools to show the importance and truth about bitcoin. I think we’ll see more productions coming out in the future that will intrigue people to learn more about it.

The article is geared towards those who are in the healthcare field, with the aim to trying to introduce the idea that unsound money may be a factor contributing to health outcomes.
You raise a good point. I think much of mass culture these days has left many without a spiritual compass. However, for some finding better money (I.e Bitcoin) does lead to some sort of spiritual transformation. Perhaps if more people adopt bitcoin there could be an uptick of people finding their spiritual side. But agree that a bigger moral/spiritual void is pervasive in many societies today.

Regarding the acetaminophen question and epistemology, I think another dimension that warrants consideration is publication bias. A major problem is that studies that find null or negative findings don’t even get published. Prada et al. (2025) even mention this as a limitation of their evidence synthesis on the topic.
Therefore if findings of ignored studies often never make it to clinical evidence synthesis investigations or public discourse, could recognition of such help to develop a shared epistemological framework for evaluating medical information in public knowledge commons like the internet and social media?

Agreed. Bitcoin exposes truth whereas fiat has a tendency to distort it. Once people realize that Bitcoin is an economic system that tries to account for truth, they then question 1) where else in my life have I not been seeking truth or didn’t know about the truth; 2) how can I do better in my life. That’s why there are many anecdotes from Bitcoiners that report changing their health habits after holding bitcoin because they realize they were following diets or advice that was not conducive to the truth of their bodies. Also, they take more personal responsibility over their lives then they did before rather than exporting to others. I find this is fascinating. There is something about fiat money that is indeed unhealthy that warrants more examination and discussion.

The Problem:
Currently, finding reliable health and medical information online is challenging. Search engines often show biased results influenced by third parties, and many health and medical related databases are controlled by entities with their own interests. While there have been attempts to create open access health and medical information repositories, they still rely on traditional internet platforms that can control what information people see.
The Technology:
MedSchlr is built on two key technologies:
1) Alexandria - This is a specialized editor and generator for creating and sharing long-form content using the Nostr protocol.

Using an instance of Alexandria to build MedSchlr, allows for the creation of an interactive health and medical information repository.
2) Nostr (Notes and Other Stuff Transmitted by Relays) - This is an open protocol that enables truly decentralized communication. Unlike traditional platforms, nostr allows users to share information without relying on any central authority. It works through a network of relay servers that help transmit messages, making it resistant to censorship and control. Key Pairs and Authentication - Users have public-private key pairs that allow them to sign their notes cryptographically. This ensures that all shared information can be verified as coming from legitimate sources, while allowing users to maintain control over their identity and content.

Reading old health texts pre-1900s, some things are so wrong but some observations are so right….
“Fear….It takes from him reflection, power, resolution and judgment; and in short all that dignity and greatness of soul… It has great influence on occasioning, aggravating and producing disease.” - Gunn’s Domestic Medicine (1836)
If we cared to promote health in our environments we would reduce fear appeals in media and take a constructive approach to communicating problems in a way that engenders a sense of agency that we can overcome.
nostr provides a beautiful protocol that allows us to overcome the tendency to stoke fear and exchange ideas in thoughtful discourse. Is it perfect no but it presents a meaningful alternative.
Thankful for all of the developers and content creators who are moving this bright future ahead. Freedom tech helps us move beyond fear.

Does anyone have any good book recommendations or reading material that examines the importance of having standards in communication or value exchange?
I am exploring the benefits of universal measurement systems like for time and how they have helped society in value exchange etc. I would like to make the same arguments for money.

I recently gave a presentation about Bitcoin to an academic audience highlighting the disparity of wages/incomes and houses prices in a western setting. A comment was made about sticky prices and wages. If I am understanding the theory correctly house prices for example are more sensitive to economic changes and wages in contrast lag. If this is indeed true then doesn’t this mean that inflation is bad then?
As a non-economist, to me it seems clear that on a Bitcoin standard wages paid in bitcoin would rise overtime and prices would fall due to deflation and the monetary premium of things such as houses would go down thus reducing the disparity between wages and house prices. Would sticky prices in wages/income still be a concern in a Bitcoinized world if we do get there?

It can be nerve wracking to share your story and views when it feels like very few people from your discipline or field of study may not see things the same way.
I had the opportunity yesterday to sit down with an awesome podcaster to share some of my thoughts.
I hope to get better at conveying my ideas to contribute to larger conversations on how we can improve health an social well-being at individual and population levels.
Bitcoin as a fundamental socioeconomic base layer provides an opportunity to restore incentives in the health and social sectors. What does health care and associated systems look like on a Bitcoin standard?
I don’t fully know but given the principles of Bitcoin, it brings power back to the individual and necessary goods and services may be more decentralized providing more choice. Also, communities may be able to build better and thrive around their core values.
