We source it at the local hardware shop in the nearest village about 2 hrs away.
Right now the whole project is funded by our visionary partners and investors, as they improve and grow their bamboo processing skills they will be able to sell and run their operations with the income generated by themselves.
We don’t aim for perfection we are providing opportunities and building an infrastructure that supports the community in the most efficient and sustainable manner.
For sure it is much better than living in poverty and broken infrastructure, or building with cement and metal.

Wow, that's beautiful to here about the Britton language! Unfortunately, right now, Spanish is the language the children speak. Only a few elders are keeping the Kofán language alive in the community right now.

Their native language is Kofán, but the commonly spoken language is now Spanish. One of our initiatives is expanding funding for their school specifically to have a Kofán professor to keep the wisdom of their language alive.

After our weekly check-ins with team leaders and a powerful call with Taita Otoniel in El Diviso, spiritual leader of this Kofán community.
Today, we break ground on La Caseta—the heart of community gatherings, traditional dances, sacred meetings with other indigenous nations.
Five months of groundwork. Prayers for generations. Now, rising from the earth.
Jesus, our construction manager, is on-site, leading the team of 15 indigenous youth.
Andrés, son of the community mayor, shared his gratitude this morning.
Months ago, his eyes held doubt and hardship. Woking on fields of crops with pesticides and herbicides has been his only possibility until now.
Today? He's employed by TerraKeepers. Free from that cycle. Working alongside his wife and cousins. Curing bamboo that becomes walls, beams, shelter.
From coca to bamboo. From extraction to regeneration. From survival to sovereignty.

Why should we care about Indigenous medicine communities in the Amazon?
Because they are the guardians of the most biodiverse and abundant lands on the planet. Lands that every one of us depends on. Lands that future generations will need to thrive.
Right now we’re at a tipping point.
Either they have the tools and resources to stay and protect their territory and wisdom, or they are forced to leave in search of opportunity. And if that happens, the land is left open for oil, mining, and exploitation.

Real transformation is happening.
We’re proud of the Indigenous members of the Cofán community who trusted the vision and came together to build their first bamboo structure, a workshop that now stands as the foundation for everything to come.
This first build took months of dedication, setting up a professional bamboo curing facility, learning how to properly cure bamboo for long-lasting construction (50+ years durability), and preparing their first full order.
With the support of bamboo mentors and local builders, this vision is now real.

Back in April, at the Primal house in Uvita, Costa Rica, I had a conversation with @nprofile…j7tk . I told him we were about to launch a new TerraKeepers campaign. I shared my truth: this community—Bitcoiners, Nostr creators, Primal pioneers—are the real ones when it comes to sovereignty, resilience, and resource reallocation rooted in values.

 And then... it happened.

But here’s the real spark: within days, not only did they commit to back us—they sent a first $12,000 donation upfront so the project could take off immediately, because they understood the urgency on the ground.

🌿 It’s been a while since our last update…
Things have been moving fast here at TerraKeepers.
💥 With the initial support we received from our silent partner, we were able to travel alongside our bamboo engineer from Costa Rica to the Colombian Amazon—to build and establish a professional Bamboo Curing Facility for the Kofan Nation.
🔥 This is a huge milestone.
A dream becoming reality.
For the first time, the Kofan can now harvest, treat, and build with their own bamboo—laying the foundation for a regenerative, sovereign future.
📐 Beyond construction, this means:
• Skill-building & economic opportunity
• Local infrastructure led by locals
• A return to natural abundance
But the biggest shift… is internal.
This is about breaking the illusion of poverty.
About realizing they don’t need to buy materials from outside.
About remembering—they already have everything they need.
