macOS Tahoe is still full of annoyances like this: a notification inside *System Preferences* that cannot be gotten rid of, and it causes the list to look janky, with weird spacing for the list item and a misaligned "2".

Raspberry Pi just announced the Pi 500+
It has a quad-core CPU, 16 GB of RAM, 256 GB SSD (built-in NVMe), and an RGB backlit mechanical keyboard (Gateron KS-33 blue switches).
Cost: $200.
First thing I did was yank the SSD out and replace it with an M.2 to OCuLink adapter, so I could game and local-LLM on the thing, using an AMD RX 7900 XT with 20 GB of GDDR6 VRAM.

though even just using your own tooling with a rough edit pass (I use MacWhisper) is already infinitely better than no captions (relying on Google!).

The other annoying part of all this is I write a ton of technical content ("training data" to AI people) that will never get seen anymore, just summarized and regurgitated in a much worse form by all these modern AI tools.
I learned so much from technical blogs in the past, and I still have my ways of finding that content... but I fear many people not already in our communities (or with parents/mentors who are in them) will not have the tools to know where to look!

The thing I hate most about AI, in the current era:
Google, DDG, Bing, etc. are all now effectively worthless on the first 2-3 pages, for most of my queries having to do with *anything* general.
Even specific queries like 'smart outlet energy consumption card HA'.
The problem is AI slop; there are thousands of websites (even some old venerable sites that were sold off) that just have "that exact query as a web page", but the results are AI generated, and have no helpful information inside.

Bought a new Bosch 500 (highest not-zillion-dollar model I could get over weekend).
Installed, went to mess with some settings, then saw:
"this setting requires the HomeConnect app"
Oh. Okay, so like Bluetooth or NFC or something?
Nope. They want me to connect my _dishwasher_ to WiFi to configure a number of settings on it! Ugh. No way, no how.

Seriously, YouTube??
I purposely leave off mid-rolls for first few days to reward viewers who watch within first push for a video. (And only add one per 10 min after—YouTube adds more)

Finally, I tested a more modern AMD GPU (RX 6700 XT) on the board, though the little Flex ATX PSU was probably not all that happy I was adapting it's CPU 8 pin connector into 2x PCI 8 pins.
Though this setup was not even _close_ to overheating and catching fire, unlike Nvidia ;)

Emulating a AAA game from Windows—from 10 years ago—is also possible thanks to Box64/Box32 and Wine + DXVK. Here's The Witcher 3 running.

In some excellent news, PCIe is well-supported (though still not perfect). Many AMD GPUs work out of the box, and I was able to run SuperTuxKart (a native Linux OpenGL game) using the DINK graphics backend, to get 50 fps on high settings.

Performance is... well... you have to grade RISC-V on a sliding scale, as the architecture is still in its (relative) infancy.

ESWIN made a special case for this Mini-DTX board (like Mini ITX but a slight bit wider), and the board already has tons of the hardware working in Ubuntu, Debian, & Fedora
