I’d liken that use of a clip to a screenshot. “Here is the example/proof of …”. A follow is the desire to watch it all similar to use (weak analogy incoming) watching all of Fox News via a webcam stream from a tv that receives cable which you refuse to use because you’re a firm believe in OTA broadcasting.
I’d also go one step further with the nuance and say that I suspect many people who use the following service services are looking to follow creators they care about not watching for behavior they need to cite for other reasons.
I left Twitter for my own reasons years ago. At the time that I left, there were multiple creators who I wanted to still follow without having to use that site. I realized, that they have made a choice to continue to use a service which I felt is inappropriate for use. I respect their right to make that choice. However, I’m not going to encourage them to continue to ignore platforms that I think are more suitable by rewarding them for not doing so. That’s what I’m driving at. It’s a weak piece of nuance in part because a creator‘s goal is to have their content seen, shared, and ideally monetized. By using a follow service, I’m giving them one to two of those because even though I’m not directly monetized, I may share what I’ve seen and it’ll definitely be part of where I go with thinking.

Perhaps don’t. If you don’t like Twitter don’t encourage those who still use that platform to stay there by silently indirectly following them.

I use podman for all my unorchestrated containers. Love it. How we I’ve stayed away from podman secrets as they used to be written to disk in plaintext. Did that get fixed?

interesting. So you’re still driving the creation and curation of the tags and not, for example, having the LLM suggest tags for specific posts or that have emerged as themes unbidden over time?

I've been thinking about 'vibe coding' as I use LLMs, and @npub1gv2…tlwl 's recent post on the topic pushed me to write down some thoughts. I've used AI to build apps in unfamiliar languages, but how much accountability for every line of code is required? I share my experience with Swift, Kotlin, and a Go-lang 1Password tool.
