How do you organise your notes? (No notes?)
I used to keep a document of characters that I'd created in alphabetical order, then a separate section for world-building I did on the fly. I now do both of those in the same document with Scribus, along with my entire manuscript with each section labelled at the side so I can find bits easily. That works well for me. I just wish there was a version for android.

I'm basically recovered from my first big book festival. It took a surprisingly long time to fully recharge, probably due to all the admin and bullshit around putting my dad into full time care. I'm sketching out chapter ideas for book 5, the last book of the Desolation series. I'll have that finished by the end of the year. Probably along with another book I'm writing. More book fairs and Supanovas to attend, but I should find those easier, now.

Getting a little tired of lazy #SciFi. Capitalism cannot survive a multi-planet, spacefaring civilisation. If you need scarcity, introduce something rare and important (Dune: spice). Logistics is always the most interesting part of economics. How to get stuff to where its needed, raw materials to manufacturing, manufactured goods to distribution. Food, furniture, clothing. That should always be the first step in your #WorldBuilding.

Oh, I could do a whole essay on this. Most of what we interact with every day is art. Your USB stick has a distinct and deliberate aesthetic. Your spoon has a distinct purpose it must fulfil, but the shape and curve, the rhythm of the proportions is deliberate art. So when I encountered a long-handled Korean spoon I had to adjust. I did that by looking for the art, the aesthetic. Once I understood that, the functionality followed.

@nprofile…vrds It's like being an actor for 30 years. I always notice acting and actor styles in a work. Any twitch of bad acting drops me out of the scene. Same with writing. A lot of readers don't even notice excessive use of passive voice, let along grammatical quirks. If it works for the story, or is at least consistent, it's usually fine.
