Jails, Not Containers: FreeBSD Isolation Done Right – Umair Khurshid | Klara Systems
<https://klarasystems.com/articles/jails-not-containers-freebsd-isolation-done-right/>
Containers play a major role in modern infrastructure, but they are not the right answer for every workload. This article explores how FreeBSD jails provide purpose-built isolation, predictable security boundaries, and deep ZFS integration—making them ideal infrastructure-grade services where stability is essential. …

FreeBSD manual pages online: I figured out what's wrong with two of the examples in the first of these three screenshots.
The wrongness is easier to see when the text from the page is copied to nano (shot 2) and Fresh (shot 3). What appears to be an ordinary space is in fact:
― non-printable U+0009 (CHARACTER TABULATION) (horizontal tabulation (HT))
A tab.
So, examples are broken when copying from official documentation.

@nprofile…kjcu thanks! I haven't thought about Servo for years (not since the Quantum change).
In practical terms, what might be the short- and medium-term results of the merge?

@nprofile…vf35 similarly boring, in a pleasant silent Sunday way:
– using pkgbase with FreeBSD 14 to work around a bug involving freebsd-update, which is not yet compatible with base packages.
Using pkgbase to put things right is the natural thing to do, when someone demands abandonment of pkgbase 😺

The removal of TrueNAS legacy (CORE) leaves space for a tenth button.
What would you like?
The button need not be FreeBSD-specific. Discussions frequently attract users of other systems.
The sidebar of r/freebsd is crowded (very tall), and this cluster of buttons is relatively far down, so I doubt that it will gain much attention. Still, cafe community thoughts are welcome.
Three screenshots:
1. an overview of <https://www.reddit.com/r/freebsd/top/?sort=top&t=day> before removal of the TrueNAS button
2. the entire sidebar as represented at <https://sh.reddit.com/r/freebsd/about/>
3. focus on the other sub shortlist, and the other shortlist, within the sidebar.
Thanks.
