It really yucks my ick when people describe the #fediverse as "algorithm free".
Sorting your (filtered) feed in reverse chronological order is VERY MUCH an algorithm. (Supported by thousands more under the hood.)
Algorithm is a GOOD word. Algorithms help us process and make sense of vast amounts of data. If anything I want more sophisticated ones.
The problem with those on other platforms is that they're optimized to exploit and predate on us and not under our control.

Mir ist völlig unklar, was das soll und warum.
Ich habe mit meinem AG verhandelt und mache seitdem 4 Tagewoche. Das hat auch für den Vorteile, nämlich mir 20% weniger Gehalt zu zahlen (bei vermutlich max 10% weniger Produktivität, wenn überhaupt). Der war geradezu begeistert.
Dafür können mehr Arbeitnehmer*innen beschäftigt werden.
Und ich kann mir mein Leben weiter leisten.

Some legislations mandate scanning & many providers do it anyway: you risk awkwardness, loss of data or even all associated accounts with uncertain appeal process outcomes, plus potentially legal action.

The idea of first-movers is not to be confused with trying to secure an advantage sustainable for the long-term, though.
That's only engineers who're overly excited over technology and/or have greatly misunderstood the reality of capitalism.
The *business* reasoning to be a first-mover is to extract profits by exploiting "external costs" before regulation catches up.

I'm unsure where the exact cut-off is; that doesn't mean that I'm not 100% that over five billion isn't definitely beyond it.
Ideally, yes, I'd love to see each and every billionaire deplatformed (plus their ill-gotten excessive wealth seized in exchange for a "I won capitalism" award), so "only talks by non-billionaires" sounds like a great rule everywhere.

I disagree: there's no ethical/moral way to become a billionaire, much less remain one.
Commercial events might get away with defining "politics" as "out of scope" (ignoring the fact that that in itself is a political stance, and not a great one), but a truly public community event has to cope.
Plus, decisions by event organizers absolutely are subject to scrutiny.

On Android, I think what we're seeing (especially in German, English isn't quite so bad) is the effect of the spellchecker "learning" words and grammar from users, unsupervised.
That's really a race to the bottom.
It keeps suggesting compound nouns I can't decipher as a native speaker, and wood situations are terrible in English to. (I've left them in on purpose here.)

I'm not saying I like it. Looking at Germany, the 5% threshold plus how non-voters are handled is IMHO a threat to what democracy remains.
But those rules are in effect and define the result of my (non)vote. It doesn't get redefined by what I might want it to mean. The system doesn't care.

Ja, wobei der erste Smart, also, ich habe in den einfach wirklich nicht reingepasst mit meinen 195cm (bzw wirklich nur als Fahrer, Beifahrer ging schon mit 25 nicht mehr, mit meinen 46 Jahren müsste ich vermutlich direkt hinterher zum Orthopäden 😄), der war schon ... sehr kompakt.

And, to be clear, me harping on about the weird #Covid19 denial society has decided on isn't implying other crises - climate, war, the rise of right-wing reactionary fascism, the cistematic patriarchy, tech billionaires or billionaires in general, religious extremism, exploitative capitalism, AI hype, and all the ways how these lovelies interact to maximize their shite - aren't also terrible crises.
We're alas perfectly capable of experiencing several debilitating crises at the same time.

Es ist doch absurd.
Das Problem ist doch nicht, dass sich Menschen krankschreiben lassen (welcher Anteil davon war überhaupt "böse" telefonisch?), sondern dass sie - MYSTERIÖS - seit Beginn der #SARSCoV2 Pandemie häufiger und stärker krank sind, sowohl wegen #Covid19 als auch anderem.
Verstehen die (inkl Medien) Konzepte wie Korrelation/Kausalität nicht, oder sind es schlechte Menschen?

Oh, I wasn't actually aware that someone else had found this before! Nice. I had actually stumbled across it independently.
