I once had a 'pleasure' of talking to her colleague in England, who told me to go stack shelves in a supermarket. These people are unable to imagine a level beyond that, she probably says it every day to everyone. Thank you for speaking in favour of metal detectorists. You don't often hear this view from an archaeologist. In England there's a scheme where finding anything significant by hobbyists is allowed but supported by Finds Liaison Officers. A lot of archaeologists are only interested in a context, not in any particular finds. They believe artifacts are better off left in the ground. I disagree but I am a detectorist, I am interested in each little story of a find.

A question
I am #sewing a shirt and I have the front panels. On the first photo the right panel's print isn't matched to the left panel, so I ordered more fabric and made another right panel (second photo). The print is now matching but I think the colour of the fabric is off. My colour perception isn't excellent but it seems like the colour isn't the same. Can you please help me out? Is the colour off on the second photo, or is it just me?

What's with IKEA's naming convention? I mean no disrespect to Swedish speakers, and it's nice to see signs saying Hej (bc I know what it means) but why name furniture sold in England with something that bears no meaning in English? It's as if the designers go see a space potato monster in the basement of #IKEA headquarters and ask what should they call a table that they don't want to just call a table, and the monster goes "blörk".

although I know nothing about archaeology, looking at groups is familiar. Are there any other properties apart from dimensions that you are looking at? I am looking at the chart andwant to do a segmentation analysis but it would probably be more useful if more more properties were involved.

I have a reading pile too, as well as a virtual one in my tablet. So yeah, I've never called it a tradition but it looks like this is what happens whenever I have time during winter holidays and it's my most favourite thing to do. This time I am actually listening to an audio book, which I am enjoying so much, I don't even care if I finish it too quickly.

Yes, Stenbok-Fermor. Fermor was the Scotsman I mentioned earlier. Their son served the russian empire and although he had lost most of his inheritance at cards, he was given land in Ukraine for his service. I guess, the empire was keen to have local landowners who were loyal rather than the free cozacks of Zaporizka Sich.

my family is from central Ukraine but at some point there was a Scottish nobleman who married a Swedish woman whose surname was Steenbok, and somehow their child ended up inheriting land in Ukraine. My DNA test tells me that I have 3rd and 4th cousins in modern Sweden and Finland.
