This morning I am grateful for the mute functionality on Mastodon. It's a little thing but whooo BOY is it a killer feature.
There are people who just make me blink a lot then back up slowly, muttering about how I don't have the bandwidth to deal with that particular flavour of bullshit. (I am certain I am describing myself to a variety of people, here)
It's good for my soul that I can just disappear them from my vision. I'm not trying to create an echo chamber, simply a less chaotic space.

Right now, my sister's puppy. He is A Lot because he's just about a year old so he is Big but not Calm.
Walk might involve hiking up the highway to the feed store (which happens to have a food truck).
I wouldn't call myself a redneck, exactly. It's accurate, I just wouldn't call myself that.
Also, Reasonable is important! Things heal faster when we are reasonable, difficult as it may be.

James May's sandwiches reminded me that Branston Pickle was something my local store sold and that I had been wanting to try.
I picked up a jar the other day.
I am almost halfway through it in less than two weeks and it is to remain in my pantry (well, fridge) at all times now. ALL TIMES. I have enjoyed it greatly on cheese sandwiches and also on spam sandwiches.
I wonder if I can get the original locally? (What I have is the Small Chunk variety).

yep, glycerine-based soap plus extra glycerine, some almond oil, a drop or two of oregano oil. Just melt, mix, pour into the shaving soap bowl, let it solidify.
I experimented with making my own aftershave (both liquid and lotion) a few times over the years, but eventually stopped using it (scents being an office faux pas)

No, it's definitely up there. I have a hard time picking a favourite board game, but AE is definitely one where you could say it's my favourite and I couldn't immediately disprove it.
(other candidates: Arkham Horror the Card Game, Spirit Island and Mage Knight; I own MANY games that don't aspire beyond "Good fun", but those four are special)

Yep, another entire bonus game. It's like The New Age in that it's focused around the expeditions where you get treasures after every game, except they've added an entire new tier (bosses used to be difficulty 1-4 and you got treasures after fights 1, 2, and 3; now it's 1-5 and you get treasures after fight 4 as well!).
I really, really, REALLY want a Biggest Box to store all several thousand cards (raised some eyebrows at the local game store asking to buy 1500 sleeves "to start")

#DeclutterBuds I'd like to tag along in a way!
I have cleaned up my hobby table, throwing out what was garbage, putting away what was useful but not germane, and tidying what was left. The contents of my hobby table are now:
My laptop
My coffee machine
Items relevant to one of my four current projects (Magic cards and the scanner, the Atari PC, the 3d printer, D&D).
There are still too MANY of those last items, but it's a start.
I hope to be able to report daily progress.

Just got the credits crawl for Hades, complete with plaintive song. Oh, Supergiant, never change.
Had a real fun run: Poseidon sword, and then the Deflect cast with the Bounce duo, backstab bonus, +2 casts, damage-when-knocking-loose and the buff that pulls them back to me. Oh, and rapid casting, and 5% Crit chance. I was busted.

I've jumped back into my existing game this week and whoooo BOY am I out of practice. Weirdly enough, having played Elden Ring has apparently improved my skills, because I'm now approaching from a standpoint of "Don't get hit" being the more important metric than "put in damage". Takes longer but seems more successful, even out of practice.

Sitting here genuinely tempted to buy a second copy of Aeon's End: The New Age and the associated Accessory Pack. Not because there's anything wrong with my existing copy, but because I'm genuinely tempted to have a copy to use as a teaching aid for the game and a copy to use in my Expeditions.

I like how small this place feels. With appropriate hashtags, you eventually find a batch of people who you find interesting and congenial, and then discover that other people you find interesting and congenial have independently interacted with them.
I know it's mostly just a case of "people with similar interests finding other people of similar interests", but it's still neat to watch.

I get it, but it would be great if we could treat it like we do images with no alt text: Push back. Let the person know "hey, this is really cool, but I'm making the choice to care for the folks downstream of me by not boosting stuff without tags and/or CWs. My health requires that I timed-mute, disable boosts and sometimes outright unfollow folks, because they're unable to internalize that I have to pick and choose when I am capable of engaging with this.

Lately there's been what I can only fully describe as a Twitteresque vibe on here. Folks, I get that it's bad. Don't need help knowing that. But you are doing no one any favours by boosting un-CW'd, untagged and in some cases "b@tm@n"-style garbled posts about what's going on, including dunk-on-the-haters memes.
If folks aren't filtering those tags and CWs, they'll see this stuff. If they are, they've made a definite choice to not see this for their own health. (1/2)

This is today's bread, I made the dough in the machine and will be putting it into foot-long loaf forms because, you know what, I really love Subway sandwiches but making them at home is SO much easier on the wallet.
Plus I can have things they don't have for me, like green olives or decent hot sauce.

Today's bread is not a fancy one. Not doing an overnight recipe, not doing a long cold ferment, not pulling out the 1905 farmhouse bucket dough kneader.
Nope, today is a 2-lb loaf of basic white compliments of my second-hand bread machine.
This is also your periodic reminder that these machines can be found at thrift stores, almost universally for sub-$50-Canadian, often for less.
The basement is starting to smell very pleasing.

I wouldn't say I'm "shook" to discover that the plastic squeeze bottle that I'd thought was a bear is actually a cow, but A: that does make more sense and B: that was not how I'd been seeing it all this time.
For context, this is the plastic squeeze bottle that holds the chocolate syrup for making hot chocolate/chocolate milk, so the cow works in context and also it's @npub1z7v…fnxu 's fault I am thinking about this AT ALL. So there you go, that's my Friday morning so far.

I did see and it looked fantastic! I am excited stroke WILDLY envious.
Okonomiyaki is so good, there was a couple months where I was making it, like, weekly or more because MY CABBAGES (I have embraced that I am the Avatar Cabbage Guy). The sauces... I tried the Real Genuine Okonomiyaki Sauce from the Asian grocery store and it was fine but remember, this is a food whose name translates (loosely) as "Anything you want to cook" so it is actually Authentic to experiment madly.

The ability to define windows and UI controls by drawing them on the screen, from VB.
Every other engine I have ever touched is inferior. Now would I love the ability to define the graphics of buttons? Yes, absolutely, but being able to draw UIs is just SO good.

I knew exactly what I was doing with this one and, for once, it wasn't work-related.
I just only got four hours of sleep so needed some way to not fall asleep standing at my desk.
In retrospect a single would probably have sufficed, but then my brain wouldn't be fizzy and what fun is that?

Depends on the flavor and the brand. They're none of them GREAT, but the Matteo's have been pretty good for the price and the fact that they're sugar free.

Yeah, I played that game and was tempted to go back into making fancy drinks as a DIRECT result, the odds on my using the milk frother to make matcha drinks way more than when I use the espresso half ... those are some good, green odds.
Matcha latte? Gimme. London Fog? Gimme RIGHT into my veins.
(I have a variety of sugar-free syrups to have with my drinks, too)

I never had that skill when I was a professional, but like... I want to, so I hope to try it and see how it goes! I will probably need one of those foam pitchers but there's a fancy kitchen supply place nearby, hmmmmmmmm
