Today we’ve added two merchants in Norway accepting freedom money, and the contrast between the two is quite striking:
The first is the Tax Free shop at Norway’s biggest airport, Oslo Airport—making it the first airport tax-free shop in the world to accept Bitcoin as a medium of exchange.
The second is a small, mountain-based online store by @nprofile…k9ry, called cyberita.no, where you can buy tactical knives for everyday use. Bitcoin only, with every order timestamped by block height.
@nprofile…6twe had to verify the latter, so a tactical knife was ordered, keeping Gunnar busy with a new delivery ⛷️🏔️

Okay, we have to admit something..

This image shows how a price increase of 144.5% has impacted the value of 1,000 Norwegian kroner from 1988 to 2024, which now equals 2,445 NOK. With #fiat currency, you lose purchasing power due to #inflation, whereas #Bitcoin is designed to protect against such devaluation over time. Let’s take a look at the price development of a 500g pack of butter over time:
•2013: 30 NOK | 0.06 BTC
•2016: 35 NOK | 0.04 BTC
•2019: 40 NOK | 0.001 BTC
•2023: 55 NOK | 0.00013 BTC
While the price of butter in NOK has increased by over 80% in 10 years, the price in BTC has dropped significantly. This highlights how fiat money loses purchasing power through inflation, whereas Bitcoin stands as a deflationary alternative.
