there's some reasos why many things that are related to stuff that are adjacent to things like alt tech and foss don't take off:
- no marketing
- bad user experience/interface, all fedi frontends rather suck, with pleroma-fe being good if youre a nerd. But it's not pretty and that matters. Android apps for the fedi also fucking suck and are ugly.
these 2 reasons (the ones i remember now anyway), create a cyclical problem similar to linux's that ends up with things like fedi barely having attention
