Wil iedereen die het kan opbrengen mij even in een comment laten weten dat ze er blij mee zijn dat ProcoliX en de Open Internet Discourse Foundation zoveel tijd, geld en moeite stopt in het draaien en promoten van de Fediverse? De #SocialistischePartij is de grote afwezige op de Fediverse.
Als je hun verkiezingsprogramma leest (wat ironisch genoeg op te halen is bij het meest Kapitalistische roofbedrijf ter wereld, hier: https://sp-mediabucket.s3.eu-north-1.amazonaws.com/2025/08/SP_Concept_Verkiezingsprogramma_TK25.pdf ) en je gaat helemaal naar pagina 52 dan staan daar wel 10 argumenten om te stoppen met Facebook, Instagram, X maar ook Bluesky en YouTube.
Overigens doet de link naar Bluesky het niet (ik was benieuwd wat ze daar dan posten).
Een enorme gemiste kans van de Socialisten.

Voor #groenlinkspvda kijk ik vooral naar @npub18k9…30hx die bijvoorbeeld vandaag nog inhoudelijk post hier. Dat is precies waar ik op zit te wachten.
Het is alleen zo ontzettend jammer dat de partij zelf vooral nog big tech socials gebruikt. Hieronder een screenshot van haar website met daarop 3 producten van Meta (lees “Careless People” eens dan weet je waarom je geen whatsapp, facebook en Instagram meer wilt gebruiken) 1 product van Microsoft (LinkedIn) en TikTok en Bluesky (ook gecentraliseerde, datagraaiende platforms).
Terwijl de Fediverse echt regelrecht in het verlegde ligt van de kernwaarden van deze partij!

The difference here is that there is no ‘one’ Mastodon. So it would be much harder to control the presence of people on the Fediverse than with Bluesky.
And I think exactly this is the message that can be learned from this article: a true social and federated approach, the way the Fediverse works is superior to the centralized approach that Bluesky uses.

compleet overbodig en schadelijk. Bluesky is vooralsnog een gesloten platform waarbij de macht centraal ligt in de handen van aandeelhouders (waarvan niet eens duidelijk is wie dat zijn). Dat moet je gewoon niet doen. Besteed je tijd liever aan het actief promoten van je eigen platform (dus social.overheid.nl) #jammer

Wat een onnodig negatieve insteek.
Misschien heeft Laurens ingezien dat hij eigenlijk niet zo vaak iets te melden heeft (dat heeft hij dan niet goed begrepen) en heeft hij de ware kracht van de Fediverse nog niet ervaren.
Ik hoop dat er wat mensen om hem heen zijn die hem er op kunnen wijzen dat actief zijn op de Fediverse echt toe kan voegen aan zijn politieke avonturen.

@npub1w74…z0fh is een van de meest vocale organisaties binnen de overheid die zich hard maakt voor de Fediverse.
Dat komt omdat ze (ook vanuit hun achtergrond) precies snappen waar het om gaat: vrije verstrekking van overheidsinformatie.
Wat je niet zal verbazen is dat vrijwel alle medewerkers van Forum Standaardisatie ook zelf actief zijn op de Fediverse.

Bij mijn kinderen op school staat van de week 5 uur achter elkaar ‘mentor uur’ ingepland.
Eén van mijn kinderen was benieuwd wat ze dan gingen doen en vroeg het aan een docent.
Wat blijkt: er komen veteranen praten over ‘defensie’.
Ik vind het walgelijk. Laat ze liever een dag inplannen om het over tracking en surveillance-staat te hebben.

Ik dacht heel even “ja, nu ben ik net zo boos als ik af en toe werd toen ik nog op Twitter actief was”, maar dit keer komt het niet door het medium maar door de keiharde en schrijnende realiteit: we leven in een land met een regering die schijt heeft aan de grondwet en het zelf niet lijkt te zien, met een politiemacht die journalisten tegen busjes aan smijt en ontvoert, met politici die roepen dat mensen het land uit gezet moeten worden en het grote bedrijfsleven cadeautjes uitdelen. #moedeloos

heel goed artikel. Wat [@bert_hubert](https://mastodon.nl/@bert_hubert ) zegt is helemaal waar en het mooie is dat wij bij ProcoliX proberen precies het gat te vullen waar Bert het over heeft.
Door #opensource applicaties te leveren als een service. Volledig gehost op andere open source software en mét support en training.
Daar werken we al 24 jaar aan. Dat is lang en we zijn nog lang niet waar we willen zijn, maar we hebben de tijd.

I think I’m missing a part here. Let me try to guess my way out of it:
You are running a very old Linux version (even Debian buster has 2.28 glibc and was released in 2019) which cannot be easily upgraded, most likely because other software is also running on that machine.
You cannot run a virtual machine inside it, probably because of lack of resources.
You want to use docker because it is resource friendly and will hopefully solve library dependencies.

I don’t use docker and since documentation is lacking I would advise against using it (exactly for that reason).
Why don’t you want to move to a source based install again? One that is not hampered by lack of a modern glib version?

in that case I would export the database and make a copy of the data directory and config and import that into your new docker based setup.
That way you can even practice the upgrade first.

my backup mechanism is a full snapshot of the virtual machine it is running on though. So that gives a lot of confidence that if stuff goes wrong you can just turn back the clock. #mastoadmin

2a alle veelgebruikte spullen zijn lek.
Daar kan ik niet in mee.
Linux distributies: niet lek, zeker niet in vergelijking met de voorbeelden die je noemt. (Worden over het algemeen ook best goed beheerd.)
Signal: niet lek.

Hee, ik zie een trend, dat is allemaal opensource software. 😎

nice story.
Personally I would like to see you dig more into alternative long term energy storage solutions built at scale. Like those towers that haul up concrete blocks to let them lower themselves again when the energy is needed again.
Then offset those solutions in time to build and realize locally compared to building nuclear.
