so I have heard of this now in two totally unrelated places and the second informed me they're doing a kickstarter
it's called Date Like Goblins. A dating thing but built around playing games together. And it's not going for the "gamers" shit; it's basically making it easier to meet and get to know new people via a shared activity for people who find that preferable to "dating".
I wouldn't be surprised if this good idea finds its audience. Maybe.... us? :o

thinking about how the Sensible narrative is that corbyn was "unelectable" because we said so, but the guy who got 3 million fewer votes in a vastly easier election is fine, and the guy who got even fewer votes than him still can be in his cabinet
almost every day it feels like there are fewer people in the world who ever say anything they've actually thought about first

joking aside, the main problem with fedi/mastodon/whatever (I'm definitely using the wrong terminology and I will not stop) vs other places is that it takes time to get any kind of enjoyable feed going.
This is how all sites used to be, including twitter, and it was fine. It was hard then too, but because it was so massive and it was quite easy to find people (and there was social pressure to), it was easier to ride out.
Masto has several main problems, but ultimately this unites them all
