In the era of cheap energy and before AC and electric/forced air heat, buildings had oversized radiators that were meant to be run with the window open for ventilation (people had a healthy respect for clean air in the tuberculosis times). A lot of buildings still have the big radiators but people run them with windows shut. In Iceland the radiators use geothermal energy so in theory cheap to run. I noticed some places still do this but not all.

It basically tells you if the device has a HiDPI or Retina display, which is a good indicator that it has a decent GPU

For sure. But you are less likely to be separated from a 4" knife that can do all that except clear brush. So I'd prioritize that over a machete if setting up an emergency gear bag.

hm, those shortcuts work very inconsistently for me. It seems like some apps ignore or intercept the shortcuts. Only the native Mac apps are responding to all globe-ctrl-arrow commands.

It has a dedicated emoji picker Fn key, and then you can map Caps Lock to Globe in the keyboard settings.

You know it's going to be rough night when you camp in a place called Windy Gap. Barely slept and the gusts almost defeated my tent, had I not been able to prop up my pack inside for reinforcement. Worth it for the sunset and sunrise though!
