I have had extremely poor results trying to find posts here that I know existed once.

This is a joke, folks. Nobody will ever find this post next year. There is no functional search on Mastodon. Just relax.

The BIOS settings on a ZimaBoard (1) need to be the following for SpinRite 6.1 to recognize most NVMe drives:
- CSM Support: Enabled
- Storage: Enable (not UEFI)
It's not clear that this is necessary, but it works when configured:
- Other PCI devices: Enalbe (not UEFI)
👋 Hi to myself when looking for this next year.

The way that Visual Studio Code pops up a prompt to gather admin credentials every couple days to install a new "helper tool" seems like the ripest target for abuse. If nothing else, it trains users to uncritically type their username and password into a prompt when returning to the computer after getting a cup of coffee. This is driving me crazier.

We all want our packages, Sharon.

I been refreshing the app every couple minutes. The UPS guy sure is spending a long time a Sharon’s house. C’mon, man, how long does it take to… oh. Oh.Never mind.

I’ll bet the product manager of Adobe® Acrobat™ is just thrilled with the recent internet trend of using “PDFile” as a substitute for pedophile.

I’m going to see Which One’s Pink? tonight at Canyon Club. Seems like an appropriate shirt.

I’m quite curious who Mozilla thinks uses their products. My patience has run out, folks. It’s time for a technology reckoning.

I think that likely applies to one vendor in particular. But sure, the bean counters gonna count.

As someone who reluctantly provides desktop technical support to friends and family, I cannot more fully encourage OS vendors to add restrictions to prevent users from executing click-fix attacks.

Oh, you’re still using CloudFormation? That’s adorable.

Kinda like the local Orphan Crushing Machine Company that sponsors the beloved local baseball team. There's pros and cons to every catastrophe. Hehe.

I see that this bag of baby carrots from Costco has a non-GMO label on it. Given that there are no commercially grown GMO carrots anywhere in the world currently, it makes me wonder what is in this bag of carrots besides carrots that justifies the marketing label.

My partner is listening to some old Pink Floyd albums on the victrola in the other room. Man, those '70s sound engineers really knew what they were doing. The fidelity they were able to eek out of a needle in a groove is astounding.

If you're having thread contention with `database.lock` just add a lock file to control access to the lock file. Use `database.lock.lock` to prevent any concurrency issues in the future.

This weird fetish of AWS trying to trick customers into creating resources in Ohio has got to stop. Maybe I’ll create a browser extension that causes a kernel panic any time us-east-2 is seen on the page.

Not to sow chaos or anything, but if Europe wanted to eliminate the orange menace, they could just announce that they will no longer enforce US patent, copyright, and intellectual property laws. Want to operate a bootleg Star Wars streaming service in France? Go for it. Want to make counterfeit Nike shoes in Denmark? Have at it. Start selling Oracle for $199 and Bloomberg terminal proxy access for free. See how long regime change takes.

Related advice I give to anybody who will listen: create a unique email address for each vendor with whom you do business, preferably using a syntax that allows for data leak detection and a random token, such as `pornhub-rksufi837@domain.tld`. This allows easy rejection of junk when the vendor inevitably loses control of their database.

Until just recently, searching for “ventura county fair 2025 concerts” returned a fabricated lineup based on performers from previous years. So much innovation.
