I do like the Cosmic Orange color on the iPhone 17 Pro, but my 16 is fine
and when it's time for a new phone, I won't be buying an Apple one anyhow (or Google or Samsung)
Right now Apple has a leg up for me because it lets me disable "Apple Intelligence" vs having to do developer level stuff to disable Gemini on Android.

so something I've thought about -
Open source "democratized" the ability to write software - you don't need commercial compilers. It opened up the space for more people. Sort of like our 8 bit machines that just started with "READY"
AI is closing that ecosystem back down. "Thought leaders" and CEOs are pushing the use of AI agents, which cost money to use - it's a form of gatekeeping.
ugh this isn't a fully formed thought but it's something that's bothering me greatly.

I was super good with edlin for a long, long time. I never got any exposure to ed, vi was common on the UNIX systems I worked on starting in the mid 90s.
