Terms that focus on what one's own feelings on the matter are ("contemptible", "hateful") or consequences of the matter ("dangerous") would seem to better get at the offense one seeks to emphasize, than those that characterize the actor, even metaphorically ("brainless", like "thoughtless", is still an indictment of cognition, heartless likewise is an indictment of empathy, which is a whole other trope of saneist slurs).
Something was done or is being done. We have strong feelings about how those actions impact ourselves and others. We can center those harmed and our righteous emotions about same, or we can center the bad actor, by painting them in vivid caricature.

Only perquisitive classposture (one of five classpostures) is not categorical class. Classposture does not inhere in the body, but rather is how the body is held. The same body may be held otherwise in other moments. One may code-switch classpostures just as one may code-switch spoken languages or even just jargons as a function of context and present company.
Quisitiarchy, the third estate, encompasses not a social class, but a classposture, more or less embodied by the metropole majority at some points if not others, and consistently manifest in a plurality of metropole polity at any given snapshot moment.
Here, "work and education" manifest as choices afforded through wealth; not merely individually controlled wealth, but hoarded colonial wealth that is the societal context providing for such affordances. Thus, for instance, paper paupers are a thing.

Which is all to say, to address your example, making right choices for moral or ethical reasons (interestingly, have a mentee who is currently reading Kant's Foundations) may or may not result in goods, thus persist as vested ego-value.
Such goods, however, do not qualify as perquisitive ego-value, perquisitive receipts, absent a redemption through Frostean bargain. Not merely that a choice made all the difference, but that a choice made all the difference of delivering subsequent choice among all the perks.
This is the Protean and Faustian aspects of the Frostean bargain. A promised future that cannot be tied down to any one thing (Proteus) that is contingent on a deal with the devil (per Faust) that defines good choices, as good, retrospectively (Frost).
Importantly, a choice made on ethical or moral grounds isn't one that tends to be adjudicated retrospectively. One has a sense or justification, leading up to and in moment of moral/ethical choice, that it is good.

So, again, ego-value is not, in and of itself, good or bad. Perquisitive ego-value, per Frostean bargain, is specific target of critique under lumpentheory, but that's about how that ego-value is underwritten.
To be clear, the construction "ego-value" is meant to be thought of in context of use-value and exchange-value. To wit, ego-value is an material relation, not merely egoic, but rather something that inheres in produced goods (here, what lumpentheory terms "receipts"), physical and otherwise, as a social process. Thus, all ego-value is sunk cost, all ego-value is opportunity cost, because all production is about choices about doing one thing as opposed to any number of other things. And all choices have a temporality to them.
Perquisitive ego-value, in this context, specifically, is about goods attributed to terms of social contract. Not just good choices, but choices redeemed for compliance with contract.

Reading latest article on aphantasia in The New Yorker, am realizing that only an aphant could have come up with anything comparable to lumpentheory.
To wit, lumpentheory is an outsider critique of the unreflective (as in non-introspective) attachment to mental time travel as currency of social contract. Lumpentheory operates from no such attachment, as said theory itself is creature of one without any mental time travel to be attached to. Mental time travel instead appears as an object: an object of concern to the observed other.
The concept of ego-value, thus, might be mistaken for common notions of social hierarchy, the feeling one has of being better than another in the present. This is not it at all.
Ego-value is sunk cost, as revisited through mental time travel, episodic memory, in all its sensory and affective richness, banked for withdrawal on demand. To visit the past as if it were another room is to render the present always a retrofuture in relation.

Yes, exactly. That's what makes the few sacrifices that are made so significant. They stand out against a desolate background of dispossession.
The sacrifices are made, far more often than one might appreciate, but they're paltry and disconnected from any real human connection. A few dollars to a homeless person once in a decade. A credit card charge to a charitable cause.
Worse, they can be manufactured out of whole cloth. The whole discourse of harm reduction is a discourse of sacrifice. Yes, we don't like this candidate either, but we have to grit our teeth and vote for them, and in doing so, we sacrifice, we are good people.
Meanwhile, quisitiarchy invests a great deal of energy and wealth, in ensuring that said background of dispossession is maintained.
We pay a premium to keep folk unhoused. Those of perquistive classposture will fight tooth and nail to externalize housing to someplace else, knowing full well that doing so externalizes housing to nowhere.

Quite the contrary. Autohagiography wants good deeds to have transactional difficulty, to involve the transfer of perks from those who have to those who have not (a perk only being legible if there are have nots with regard to said perk).
Because such transactional difficulty is how one redeems vested ego-value, and thus is redeemed. It has to be transactionally difficult, it has to be a sacrifice, to justify why it is so uncommon as to be autohagiographically notable.
The problem of everyone being housed is not that it is more difficult than handing money to someone. We've far too much discourse about how it would cost less to house everyone than to keep so many unhoused.
Problem of everyone being housed is that it would eviscerate one's own housing of perquisitive ego-value. That one is housed is a receipt of one's goodness, only legible if others are unhoused, dispossessed. Housing everyone would render it meaningless in assessment of one's goodness as a person.

Okay, having had a few hours sleep.
Another way to approach this might be to speak of autohagiography as a moral economics of externalities. Air pollution of the soul. "There is no ethical consumption..." as a license to idle one's ethical engine while parked.
Only, with autohagiography, the bad deeds, the externalities, aren't merely costs suffered by a third party. Rather, those bad deeds ensure that there is dispossession of third parties. For, without such dispossession, the vested ego-value inherent to autohagiography could not be underwritten.
To individualize the good deeds, to redeem and be redeemed by the vouchers that are good deeds, those deeds must be done against a background pollution that makes said deeds legible as good.
Society didn't just make one do bad things. Society cannot function unless those bad things are done. And without society, all the perquisitive ego-value one has vested would be rendered invalid, non-redeemable, thus non-redemptive.

The notion that kindness is not also a matter of socialization is, of course, romanticism. Changing social structures and living differently as a subculture is inescapably a matter of socialization.
This goes to my critique of Leftist theory as commonly ahistorical. There's always new generations being born and being socialized, even as there are prior generations with decades even many decades of prior calcified socialization.
If anything, the assertion that anger takes work but kindness is a default ignores the frequency with which hate turns up, if anything suggesting that hate takes less work than kindness, it being so often the path of least resistance.

This is all by way of subtoot. There's been a post making the rounds where someone argues that hate takes work but "Kindness is free."
There's a utopianist undercurrent to such discussions, as if the natural state of human existence is kindness and we wouldn't have to work at maintaining a society of kindness in the same manner as so many work at societies of hatred.
(Which triggers the question: If the default condition is kindness, what need one for the moralizing aphorism?)

And so we tie back to the 19th century theological sense of God's kindness being free. Gratuitous. Freely given.
For God, that may be the end of the story. For anyone else, that giving is not without cost. It's labor. "Kindness is when you do something you don't have to do."
In 2002, the elision of labor we're familiar with today is more pronounced, in Steve Rhode's The Path to Happiness and Wealth:

Note especially how Davis undermines their own idiomatic conclusion:
"their continued generosity to all those travelling"
To wit, they were giving something.
"I seldom find trainmen as kind, sociable and considerate as I, myself, tried to be when handling the public."
Which is to say, being sociable and considerate is something one tries to do when handling others. It's work.
Even the preamble "am not accustomed to handing out bouquets…"—which foreshadows "…I thought it not out of order to hand a compliment to them"—indicates that Davis, themself, is going out of their way to do a thing.
Volume 10 of the Baltimore and Ohio Employees' Magazine includes the word "kindness" 33 times, typically complimenting the labor of employees of said railroad.

Well, those are separate vids.
One in which he does media critique, centering on one figure as exemplar, and references his own choices by matter of comparison.
The other, a while after, where he merely announces that he won't be doing further video essays for the time being.
To be clear, Sang's critique was speaking to the fact that some ostensibly "good" channels do well, but that they do so by not being quite so choosy about their ad revenue.
To wit, FD doing adverts for Ground News, where we now know that Ground News is largely repackaging the liberal bias of some guy named Dave. (Of course, FD himself asserts that his own politics are rather vanilla, so that tracks.)

Elliot recently stopped doing formal video essays, for reasons of not being able to find sponsors (that he ethically would be willing to shill for) to pay for the work that goes into such productions.
Yet his livestream discussions, despite the lack of intensive research and production that a video essay might involve, nonetheless are proving quite fruitful.

This is not to say these aren't viable choices.
Only that doing anything other than what one is accustomed to doing is not easy.
Folk are accustomed to uninstalling apps. It's part of having a phone.
Thus advice that suggest that one can avoid the surveillance repercussions of carrying a phone to a protest makes avoiding surveillance sound easy.
But the non-easy answer is that one must learn to move through the world differently than they are accustomed to. And showing up at a protest, perhaps for the first time in one's life or at least in recent decades, is not necessarily the time to start doing that.
Rather, one must commit to changing how they move through the world as practice. Where protest is just one facet of that world and that practice. So that one is prepared to make choices about burner phones and alternative modes of payment & transport when the need arises, rather than as an afterthought the day of.
Changing how one moves through the world is not easy.

So, two options.
First, a chocolate bar style burner with no apps, which includes payment and transport. For someone who relies on those things to get home safely, not easy. Requires, at very least, confirming that one's social ties are prepared to help by way of a phone call without resort to apps. That's not always the case.
Second, a smart phone burner with all the very same tracking apps, perhaps even more deeply entrenched & uninstallable because poor people ain't allowed to have nice things, which presumably one gets to use an app to pay for things or get oneself home.
And anyway you have to log in (to the phone AND apps) to access accounts you want to use for those purposes anyway, which means guess what, you're being tracked. Again, not easy.
Speaking from experience, trying to navigate a world increasingly antagonistic to *not* using a smart phone is hard work.
Trying to do that in a perhaps unfamiliar place, during potentially chaotic events, all the more so.

So, there's a toot, supposedly from an employee of a company, recommending that folk delete that company's phone apps before going to protest.
First, that company is not the only source of software on your phone that is being used to surveil your participation in civil disobedience. Toot gives impression that by uninstalling that company's products your phone is somehow safe.
Second, that company, in particular, has hooks in the Web pages you visit, and thus tracking you even if you don't have an account (let alone apps) on any of their platforms.
Third, if folk are using apps from that company, they very likely learned of the protest through one of those apps, which means the company already knows they are likely enough "people who want to protest".
You want to avoid being surveilled by your phone at a protest? None of the answers are easy.
But any advice that suggests uninstalling a handful of apps (which may be bloat that can't be removed without tech knowledge) is misleading.

Vaccines are only as effective as the immune systems that carry that immunological memory. GISAID data late Sept shows FLuQE KP.3 clan over half of samples, with now more differentiated FLuQE31 KP.3.1.1 / MC all but half.
FDA's vaccine target, FLiRT KP.2 & kids, represented by less than eighth of samples. LB.1 continues to hold out.
Per previous analysis, common mutations mean that LB.1 & KP.3 both closer to KP.2 than WHO vaccine target JN.1:

GISAID also shows KP.3.1.1 / MC has busily diversified, though none of these subvariants—as of yet—stand out from their peers.
#CDC has broken out XEC—spawn of FLiRT KS.1.1 & FLuQE KP.3.3—previously notable in GISAID.
CDC estimates reflect trend from fortnight ago, with us ending fourth week of FLuQE31 wave, following a one-week FLuQE wavelet.
