my local mesh is switching to meshcore. i am open to change, but i have been unable to find the answer to the question of: "why is meshcore better and why couldn't the improvements been added to meshtastic?". just like 2 sentences, that's all i wanna know.
because although i'm not an RF expert, developing a competing (non-compatible, right?) standard in crowded, public bands ought to have been done for a VERY good reason.

LLMs can be very deceptive because while they don't think, they can play back the words of people who did and even mix it up a little bit in a statistically interesting way because that's what they're designed to do but all they are, truly, is a complicated hash algorithm where the output is amusingly convincing language related to the input.

@nprofile…rtl5 I like this for another reason too: people who refuse to vote and people who vote for candidates other than a particular candidate are both heard. A person who doesn't vote is no different than someone who goes to vote but doesn't pick anyone. It adds some ambiguity to candidates - how many "no" votes did they get vs "absent"?

Better compression for video plus faster internet speeds meant pre-rendering was a better experience
Web browsers started implementing powerful 3D pipelines that used GPU hardware that were relatively efficient
Unity was made to work with web browsers, giving developers powerful and familiar tools to make interactive content in the browser
Flash was insecure as hell and the entire security community kind of just stopped tolerating their shit and forcefully deprecated it (as much as is possible when some critical tools still used Flash, like out of band management apps)
Flash multimedia was insecure from the developer's perspective too, with skilled hackers able to remove or bypass software protection features and release cracked versions of games and animations
I'm sure I got some wrong/inaccurate, but this is just from my perspective as a tech guy living through the Flash age

@nprofile…rtl5 i'm with you on this one - the tactile feedback and the greater sensitivity of control is what gets me. yeah I can fiddle on the screen to select the word I want to remove or I can Ctrl+⬅️ like twice, then Ctrl+Delete.
i don't think touchscreens are inherently flawed but I do think we stopped innovating with how they input stuff. maybe they are inherently flawed because to touch anything you need to necessarily cover it with your finger. but the point remains they haven't solved fine input and i don't think that's impossible to do with a touchscreen.
