Lovely hike up. This is one of the places where the temple itself is quite beautiful but all the gardens, trees, other buildings and just nature in general are so beautiful. You can realize very quickly why this was a special place and why a temple was built here.
And with this I've finished all the temples in 徳島. Next trip here will probably be walking the 室戸岬 again to being visiting the temples in 高知 or perhaps go back to 愛媛.

I see how the Dems are just waiting for fall elections. I get that they have little in terms of legal ability to stop this, but, at the same time, they are not even projecting defiance. My Senator (Kelly) is posting some very mid lib coded stuff. It's popcorn: all calories no nutrition. Seeing some pushback against Schumer is good but it seems, once more, the USA, is grasping at mediocracy.

西国26番一乗寺→書写郵便局前バス停
Walked about 20km in about 5hrs today to connect Ichijyō-ji (Saikoku #26) to the base of Shoshazan where the next temple is. The ropeway we expected to ride down the hill was closed for repairs and we would have had to rush up the mountain to get to the temple before the stamping office closed so it was a shorter, easier walk today. Next hike will be up and down the mountain then we'll begin the long walk to cross Honshū.

The name of the Morioka Station shopping mall, フェザン, has diacritics over the English name. In Japanese for some consonant+vowel combination sounds adding a ゛to the character changes the consonant. In this case the s→z so サ(sa)→ザ(za).
The name written as "Fes゛an" would be read "Fezan"
Would a random tourist understand how to read this? Probably not. If anything it's a good language teaching opportunity (like this post). Personally, I think it's fun!

However, they do have the stove car open and the stoves going with Nihon-shu and surume for sale. The lovely staff there will grill the surume on the stoves for you. ATM fees in Japan are much cheaper than in any other country I've visited. in the USA $4 is normal if not cheap. in Japan its 200jpy or less. unless your using some scammy ATM. stick with the Conbini or, the best option, the post office.

2025-12-30 14:21:31 UTC

If you use a non Japanese ATM card at the 711 conbini ATMs, they will give you this scam question. ALWAYS use the currency your card is based in!
If you have a Japanese credit card or ATM/debit card and you're using it abroad... Choose JPY. If you have an American based credit card and you're using it in Japan or any other country, always choose USD.

The "miya" (宮) in Nishinomiya (西宮) isn't Nishinomiya Shrine (西宮神社) dispite it being much more famous now. The "miya" 宮 is actually Hirota Shrine (廣田神社) that's up in the hills in the Taisha (大社) area of town. There's a pilgrimage route connecting Ise Grand Shrine (伊勢神宮) to Hirota Shrine even and I've seen signs in Nara Prefecture marking that path.

now your example pulls too far the other way where I begin to worry that the child is lacking in socialization (for better or worse) and a sense of place and being. The latter is often brought up for half Asian children not feeling either, in my case for example, American or Japanese. This leads to a very postmodern problem of being that is not at all exemplified in media nor well understood by monocultural educators (not their fault of course).

I got my flu and COVID shot for free (with proof of insurance) in the USA. And I got a nice coupon to use at the UnitedHealthcare run drugstore I got jabbed at. While the system is entirely evil, it's a good policy to give out vax like flu and COVID for as cheap as possible. I'm sure the cost of the illness is greater on the economy than the cost of the vaccines. It's stupid that Japan doesn't do the same.
At least there's something I can brag about the absurd USA healthcare system 🙃

Fucking #Tucson drivers! I gave the sliver Ford a bunch of space to get in. Then, I begin to slowly get into center of the lane AS THE DASHED LINE HAS ENDED. At that time this lady speeds up to get in front of me and push me out of the lane and off the road. See in the end of the video where I tag on the rear camera footage how she speeds up. Why? We are all going to be stuck in a line behind the truck that was in front of me with the trailer.
