it's not really a weakness of JIT but rather just the design of compilers in general: when the code gets turned into raw machine code it runs faster but it also has very direct access to do as it pleases. Operating systems and runtimes like the ones provided by .NET, Java, Firefox, or Chrome can limit this somewhat, but they can only go so far.
Also, there are very similar issues with WebGl and WebGPU which allow direct access to the GPU, something that has been exploited on several occasions to read the framebuffer and see the whole screen from within a browser without using the regular screen capture APIs or requesting any special permissions, just exploiting WebGL, so I recommend disabling that as well

there are a few issues with wasm that I've seen detailed by people with more experience building VMs and sandboxes than I, but the issue here isn't with WASM, but rather with Firefox's implementation of it:
Firefox has two toggles: `javascript.options.wasm` and `javascript.options.wasm_baselinejit`, implying you can disable wasm completely, or disable just the JIT compiler. This, however, is a complete and utter fucking lie. If you disable the JIT, WASM can no longer run and is functionally disabled. This is a REALLY BAD thing for security, as JITs are much easier to exploit than bytecode interpreters, even if they're slower. For JavaScript, you can disable just the JIT and lose some speed for more security (something you absolutely SHOULD do). For wasm, however, you're not given that choice: either enable the JIT, or disable wasm completely which breaks all sites that rely even slightly on it
There are also no ways to enable or disable the JIT independently for extensions and websites or only for specific websites, which is also a major issue when JITs are so bloody exploitable.
As for why JITs are bad for security, tho (for anyone who doesn't already know): machine code can very directly exploit CPU bugs like Meltdown, Specter, or anything similar, particularly cross-channel attacks which allow a process to mess with the other thread that shares the same physical core (this is why people don't like Hyperthreading, btw). A bytecode interpreter isn't completely immune to this, but it makes it a whole lot harder since now there's the VM you need to exploit to do your bidding at the lower level, and most bytecode VM exploits are very limited, usually allowing only a small handful of very limit unintended actions.
And as a sidenote: I also personally don't like wasm since the Google engineers who made it were so fucking overworked that at least one of them got brain damage.

1) purely interpreted code, no JITs

on Plasma Wayland and wlroots compositors, you have the display server, hotkey daemon, window manager, and compositor all rolled into one, but on Gnome you have all of that + the desktop shell and notification daemon (which was already part of the desktop shell in gnome, which itself also has a JavaScript engine for 'extensions' which actually have no real API and can break at any moment because gnome doesn't really want you to use extensions)
Like, call me crazy, but I'm pretty sure having this big of a monolith isn't all that great for stability

as someone who used to use LSPs all the time: don't
LSPs just end up being more annoying than helpful, constantly telling you how you should make a "correction" then you make said correction and tells you to revert the code to how it was before because the LSP doesn't even know what version of the language you're using (this was particularly bad with C where clangd would constantly guess whether I'm using C99, C11, or C17)

I know Python has an actual boolean type, I was talking more about how you can just chuck a number or string directly in an if's condition and it'll treat 0 as false, non-0 as true (and similar thing with empty vs non-empty strings)
it can technically lead to some weirdness when wrong value types go in some places, and typed explicit predicates in conditions could catch those (as is the case in Scheme)
