Oh but did want to give a shoutout to the Fitting Room (as per someone else here a while ago) - I made an appointment noting broken wrist and asking if they had a bra easy to fasten in front. When I arrived she said "Hi yes actually I think you may like something you can just step into," and yes, yes I do. Moreover she says it's easy to wash and dry over night so I only need to buy one. Moreover HEPA filters. ❤️

Sitting in orthopaedics (waiting room number 3 for the afternoon following a silly fall ice skating - right wrist) bored enough to try typing with left hand. Codeine is good for you. Not sure if they'll be content with a cast but anyway I think this is going to inconvenience me for a while. Left hand very bad at typing on phone.

Just came back from a craft group where almost everyone masked and, y'know, by now I'm pretty comfortable with being the only person in a group masking, but it's sooooo heartwarming to *not* be the only person in a group masking.
(Kudos to @npub14n6…x793 for originally raising the idea of yay clean air with the organiser, and kudos to the organiser for being super supportive. Also everyone who walked in, saw everyone else masking, and said "...Do you have a spare mask?" (We did.) Peer pressure ftw!)

It's more that you'll spend the entire rest of the conversation explaining what a CO2 monitor is, what 'good' and 'bad' readings are, why you want to know, etc.
At the point they realise you're talking about Covid, they suddenly go all vague and distant, because no-one *wants* to get the point, they're living perfectly happily in denial. I try and delay that moment by talking about "stuffy" rooms, in the hopes that some info will seep into their brains before they lock the door.

Also and moreover, if anything lockdown should have *improved* the language skills of preschoolers because they'd get to spend more time with parents who may otherwise be working full-time or more.
(Older kids, sure, were a bit set back by it because they need to learn to socialise with peers. But again, in New Zealand the impact really was relatively fleeting.)

There's so little butter left on the shelves at my local supermarket, from any brand, that I'm convinced that they've personally offended the butter gods. This is no longer "due to high demand" (which was clearly always a euphemism for "due to low supply"), this is "Our procurement manager slept with the wife of Boutyros so Boutyros turned him into a bull and you can't milk that so we're putting together a crew to sail over to ask the oracle what to-- Uh oh, sea monster just happened."
