This only really matter for node runners like myself using AlbyHub for their lnaddress. If i see something like primal or coinos I know its on lnurl so the keysend stuff doesnt even work.
My main concern in all of this is that all the current stuff works because we have a ton of stuff build on top of it that shows depend on and breaking that is a non-starter for me.

is BoostBox or whatever were calling it just for lnurl payments?
I just want to make sure Im doing it right. If I see a node id I just do the normal keysend TLV stuff but if it's a lnaddress I do a look up to see if keysend is an option and if it is I use that and if not then its a lnurl payment with BoostBox sending to metadate that is normally in the keysend/TLV stuff.
One exception in faountain.fm addresses since Oscar said he preferred just lnurl payment so I skip the look up.

I spun up my own BoostBox last night. I didn't want to but having my own that I can access makes this all much easier to test. I also have everything displayed on the main page and if you click on one you get the rest of the details.
I guess each app will just have its own version going forward which we were kind of against but Franco seems ok with it and he's been the reference point for apps without much backend services so I guess this is what we're testing now. 🤷‍♂️

So all payments from stablekraft.app to fountain wallets default to LNUrl now.
Working on BoostBox now but I can't get the url for it to send to Fountain wallets but I can other like Strike.

@nprofile…k8p7 for sending payments to fountain wallets should we send LNUrl instead of keysend? My apps default to keysend if it's available but I don't think BoostBox is meant for keysend payments so defaulting to keysend doesn't trigger its use.

Initially testing with Alby NWC seems solid. Listened to about 4 hours of content so far and the sats are flowing.
Also Strike doesn't have NWC.

The Alby extension still works well for web and I think you just need a few updates but that's using Alby that's fallen out of favor but is still the best option for all of this imo.
All that's missing is support for lnaddresses and support of the .wellknow keysend lookup for lnaddresses.
All the other stuff we've been talking about isn't really flushed out.

It's because it's marked as "music" and not a "podcast". That's why the alt enclosure for the video doesn't work in fountain.
Switch that and the music apps won't pick it up since it's now a podcast and not music.

I went to boost soapbox sessions but all the lightning info for lightning thrashes was still loaded.

It's not a lot of feeds but there is a lot of AI/Bitcoin crap and a few feeds that have medium=music that shouldnt so it would water down the "real" music. This is actually a current issue that we account for because the AI slop music has taken over and its been this way for a while.
If we search for and add music now will that be saved going forward or is it too early for that? We could search for and add stuff awhile, so you have "real" music. Would be fun to see how that goes.

On my iPhone 11 the top of the chapter art is cut off.
Everything changing colors with the art is cool and something I need to get used to but I like it so far. Kind of on the fence with everything changing colors like the text. In the one screenshot it feels like I have a red filter on my phone but then the other colors are fine.

Alby has disabled login with password so users need to use a pass code that is emailed to them.
This is a new change, so I haven't checked all the apps but did get a message about it being disabled when I logged into Curiocaster with my Alby account with my password.

Castamatic isn't remembering my playback position lately.
Only noticed this with CarPlay. I'm listening to something, turn off my car while leaving my phone plugged in and when I get back in my car the episode starts back at the beginning.
This is also a new bug that has only shown up in the last few weeks.

I think keysend being in most feeds is the issue but no one seems to want to just change them which they can and it will work.
Since most people use a podcasting host maybe that's a discussion of them to have and we just advise what's out there.
Honestly I don't know. I think it comes down to the goals of each app and service. This all also works so the people using it don't really have a push to change it because it works but has its limits like everything.

I started with the RSS feeds of the Doerfels to build the app and that's all I planned on doing but then others were also building apps and had questions about lightning so I started adding it to the Doerfels site and I love it. It's also hidden and needs turned on with a toggle in the left menu.
I think the <value> tag needs the same reset. Fountain and Alby work great but if we want other wallets in apps we need to know what's broken and address those issues one by one.

When I started vibecoding stuff a few months back one of the things I wanted to do was make a music player/app for @nprofile…5x2e and it was only setup to use the funding tag b/c lightning is complicated and anyone using the app needs Alby to even send a payment since it needs to be keysend since that's what's in the feed.
We went back the roots of what is V4V music and it's getting people to listen to your music.
That reset helped me a lot on trying to tackle the lightning stuff now.

You talked about NWC before. Have you tried adding that to Castamatic at all? I don't know how much bloat it adds to apps since I'm just building small apps so I'm curious if adding NWC is even an option for apps like your.
Nostr devs say this is all easy and people here say it's over kill so I really don't know.
Im interested in just sending payment now and not metadata or other Nostr stuff with it. Just simple Boosts to see if it works.

Good to know. The hang up with podcasting 2.0 is that no one can decide on a way to move from keysend to lnaddress and still pass on the metadata with the payment that is a key part.
fwiw I'm using Fountains approach of using Nostr for the metadata.

If I'm making them, can't they just be faked anyways? I mean the total I send now is just the total in the TLVs and I could just 10x the amount if I wanted.
Not really a concern of mine since these posts are just for fun and the values already sent when they are made, and I'm just making a nostr post with the TLV info.
This is more of a general question b/c some people will want proof of the amounts, but I think lnurl solves that.

With all of this metadata talk I just wanted to let people know that anything here that has node is the current way things work but anything that is lnaddress aka email style address are the ones that we want to switch to but need a way to handle the metadata.
This screenshot proves that they can be paid but idk what metadata Adam sees in his Strike wallet from this.
Adam that info would be handy for the boardroom if this topic comes up today.

Its a very complex problem to solve.
TLDR we have keysend addresses in feeds and no easy wallets to make payments with.
Right now its use Fountain, Truefans or setup AlbyHub to use Castamatic, Curiocaster, PodcastGuru, LNBeats etc.

I'm working on this site right now and it can use any NWC wallet or some other stuff I haven't tested yet but if it's not an Alby wallet it fails because of most feeds only having keysend and Alby being the only NWC wallet that pays keysend.

Could we just double up payment addresses in feeds to fix the keysend/lnaddress issue?
Same name but 2 payment options with the first being the preferred method and second being a fallback.
Since most wallets don't support keysend but people still want to use it could we just add both to the valueblocks?
Seems like an easy way to add it but I'm way out of my depth here. :)

Thinking more about this separating the lightning payment from the metadata thing and I think this would be a cool way to show the data on a website without needing a payment split.
I want a way to show the DoerfelVerse Boost for all the artists @nprofile…wuyh host on their website and this would let me get that data easily.
I've already built stuff that uses the webhooks in Helipad for my stuff but that's all my local stuff and not stuff in someone else's house hours away behind TOR. 🤔

I added an episode 2 to the LNURL test feed I made with some fellow podcasters in it that's all lnurl addresses minus the PI split if anyone needs one for testing.
Seemed to be working last night.
Fountain and PodcastGuru seem to work.
Castamatic and Podverse only see the PI keysend address which is probably b/c they cant parse the lnurl addresses.

It's a great show with a nice listener base. It's too much of a Macro view on Bitcoin for me but it's nice at explaining the Bitcoin news that's in the mainstream to people and you can just send in questions to the show which is always great to help figure this stuff out.

I made a musicL playlist generator that I'm 99% works.
It builds playlist from music shows or at least that's what I made it to do.

Others it just keeps the album art and changes the background color.
Not sure the rhyme or reason but I'm stealing it for #stablekraft. The musician already spent time making the art might as well use it
I'm trying to make this a universal app others can use so using the art in the RSS feed is a no brainer for me.

Apple Music does this for some tracks and this could be a cool use for the image tag for music apps to use.
For #stablekraft I want the UI to fall away and the album art be the focus and this is kind of it.
Some are just the album art with the color of the album filling the bottom of the screen but I like it. Others it just crops the art but having art that doesn't need changed as much would be cooll
On desktop I don't think this is as important but on mobile it really pops imo.

Can you tie multiple #PublisherFeeds together?
@nprofile…wuyh has several artists and projects that he host and it would be cool if each act had a publisher feed and then they were all under one Doerfel-Verse umbrella.
We've barely got the first publisher feed of the ground but it's something that came up.
Nate Johnivan is another example. He has 6 bands (?) that could live under one publisher feed, I think.

I've been looking over your old stuff about this and I think we have enough music now that we can make playlists.
I'm trying to automatically make them from music shows right now and I'm still working on getting the data from the feeds and making them sharable via RSS is later.
I've been using the one SirLibre made for reference fwiw.

Do any apps support the musicL spec?
@nprofile…ayy4 and myself have been working on them and it's nice to test these in "real" apps to make sure were doing it right.
LNBeats has/had them but I think its broken :(

freemium is a terrible name for whats just normal podcasting.
freemium makes it sound like I'm going to be forced to pay at some point just like freemium games.

@nprofile…2802 I made this notsr bot that post anything going to The Wolf and he's in the splits for that test feed, so it gets triggered.
Don't know if it's helpful, but it lets you know that keysend split got paid since that is a node pubkey in the spit.

Alright podcast gear nerds. I'm going to be a returning guest on ITDV with @nprofile…wuyh and I need a better mic.
I have this cheap amazon one from doing online courses before that I think sounds ok but i seem to make mouth sounds and breath in the mic alot and listening back it really bugs me.
Id like to not go over $100.
im on one of the new mac minis fwiw.

Thinking more about this blog post Kevin made and AI slop music aside the tech is all still the same and still works like it always has the only thing that's different is Alby's business model and as a listener I love being able to Boost from my own node with Podverse which is something I've always wanted and I'm not going back.
We've "needed" an Alby alternative for years but here we are, and Alby is still the best and only option for keysend and LNURL.

I can't get the mp3 on this feed to update. I changed the correct info in the feed (i think) and PodPinged it but its still the old mp3.
Old one is 9 minutes, and the new one is 10 so it's easy to tell if it updated or not.
Did I over PodPing it and now its stuck?
