I’ve also heard of TailScale funnels and also CloudFlare Tunnels.
Both are reverse tunnels so you can self host at home without the need to open ports and manage the port forwarding issues.
I want to spend some time looking at these options too. I’ve started a gitea docker image locally for fun, but the external hosting and using the service outside of my network is the tricky part.

I can understand VPNs to a small degree, but this is also 2024 and a browser is the gateway to their services. Sure support browsers among the Chromium, Firefox flavors.
Sometimes when using a VPN personally, and a website doesn't load, reconnecting to a new server does the trick. So their blocking the IP, not the VPN service.

This looks pretty great too! In my case, I still face the problem of installing the module the first time on the fleet. So I'd have to install this module too, then what I need. I don't mind adding a few extra functions to the script to ensure things are working, too (right now).
I read the Readme, but think it is missing the Usage portion like you showed here on how to actually use this module to Import, Upgrade, the versioning, etc.
I'll keep this in mind for future projects.
