Was in an online knit and natter group yesterday where I got to explain the concept of thr fediverse.

For actual fucks sake.
I need to speak to my GP.
So far I have had to:
- fill in an econsult form
- wait for a call back
- recieved a call back from admin telling me that I need to speak to my surgeons secretary
- rang the hospital where I had my surgery
- got passed to 3 different people
- told that more than 6 weeks have passed, so the GP needs to see me and re-refer in
- rang the GP surgery back again
- had to fill in another econsult form with the receptionist
- wait for a call back
HOW IS THIS AN IMPROVEMENT ON CALLING THE RECEPTIONIST AND MAKING A FUCKING APPOINTMENT????
I still don't have a damn appointment and this is why I did not want to have to do this

We are fast approaching the anniversary of my brother and nephew's deaths.
So I am going to take this moment to ask you all if you have planned your escape route from your house in case of fire. Do the kids know the plan?
Is the battery working in your smoke alarm? Is there even a battery in your smoke alarm, or did the beeping annoy you?
What will you do if your stairs are alight?
If the grandkids are staying over, do they know the plan? Which adult is getting which child?
Where do you keep your house keys at night? Could you find them if there was smoke and fire?
Do you shut the kitchen door when you go to bed? That was what the fire brigade said would have made most difference for my family.
Do you turn electrical appliances off at the wall, especially the ones you bought from somewhere online?
Have you walked through your escape plan? You need muscle memory to kick in when the panic of an emergency situation hits.
Please, if you could think about these things and make changes if you need to it would mean that something good has come from our tragedy. I never want anyone else to have to go through this.

I love all the languages I see on fedi.
My German is starting to come back a little because I trip over German language posts and try to understand them before hitting translate.
It is one of the best things about fedi that hardly ever seems to get mentioned - the fact we get to rub shoulders with people from wildly different places and see new viewpoints

Evening,
Today I am grateful:
- that my Eldest got home without mishap
- that I managed to do a small amount of study
- that I had the time and space to nap safely
- that the sun shone brightly through my window
- that there are daffodils growing in my garden
These small things are worth concentrating on, because these are the things I can do something with, and enjoy.
I cannot do anything about the global situation and so I choose to look just into my bubble and do what I can to make my little sphere a better space for me and those around me.
