Anyone else had to do the manic 'very early frost forecast shuffle' today? My conservatory is up a large flight of stairs - thank God my daughter was in to help! Tomatoes aren't finished yet either. Palms, ginger, tender yuccas and big pots in greenhouse. The bananas and Colocasias/Alocasias are going to have to brace themselves.

Hi #finishorfrogalong - I can't wait to finish a stashbusting neutral yarn granny square blanket because I hate it but can't leave it! Not my colours but made space for lovelier yarn. A claggy day as we say in NE England - hot and humid. Sadly avoided thunderstorms. A look down the gravel path - Cotinus, Acacia, windmill palm, Agapanthus Polar Ice, rose Lady of Shalott, Ligularia Othello, various bananas, Rodgersia and the big Yucca making it look rather tropical. I think my daughter's in there too!

My first scrap yarn crochet rug on the blocking board to even out the edges. Made with 5 strands of DK yarn and a 9mm hook, as one colour runs out, you attach another, crocheting over the ends as you go. This makes the gradual colour shifts. An absolute stashbuster, it's used up all my bright acrylic cheap yarn from charity shops and leftovers. Ended up about 1m square. I may edge it - see how well it blocks.

My big one has been in the same big ceramic pot with cheap compost for 15 years - it's too heavy to move! As for the cuttings, spent tomato compost with added grit hasn't done mine any harm!

Finally, a warm, dry day after nine straight days of cold and wet. If you ignore the Sports Direct bag full of weeds, it looks very lush. I'm thinking of rose petals like natural confetti, not litter. Stars here are huge Giant Scabious, Ligularia Desdemona and self-seeded campanula.
