You don't even have to believe me, here's an Apple datacenter.
Know what you don't see? A huge parking lot or a lot of cars. There are 10 cars there.

I don't understand how datacenters could enrich local communities unless the local community gets to tax the heck out of them.
So few people work at a datacenter! I had access to 151 Front for years, past the security desk I'd never see anyone.
Unless the hardware breaks modern servers rarely require a human to be near them. On companies operating "at scale" they won't even send a human unless there's a full shift of work for them to do.

I just found out my garage door had been left open by the "proof of delivery" photo from a package.
It of course didn't prove delivery, it was a dutch angle photo of my garage. It didn't feature the package at all.

If an "AI" company can sell you access to software that will replace a $250k/year software engineer. They're going to charge $249k/year for it.
That's how capitalism works.
Well, they're going to charge $20k/year at first, during the land rush phase. Wait for some competitors to die off. Keep it low a while longer to kill off the incumbents. Then it'll jump up a bunch, before finally being even more expensive than the original thing.

I was lucky enough to move to Hover back when they offered like Concierge onboarding. Moving domains sucks!

I don’t think 300km from the border and keep the economy running is possible. That’s the entire Montreal to Windsor corridor, and half the country’s population.

I can't fully express how bad Adobe Acrobat Pro is.
After losing all my work on a health form once already, I've realized that I missed something. For some reason I can't actually edit any of the data, it's entered some alternate edit mode.
I am now printing it out to add the last thing with a pen, then scan it.
I attended my first programming class almost 20 years ago, and I am printing something out to scan it again.

How much time did you (or will you) spend planning work in 2025?
How much time did you spend celebrating what you got done in 2024?

The more I learn about cryptography, the more I think Alice and Bob should probably just talk in person.

So putting an air purifier in a day care cuts kids sick days by a third.

Man, someone from Waterloo public health should just grab their credit card, order 220 air purifiers, and give two to every child care center in the city.
