The digital era really is undermining state capacity at the same time as it's extending that, though obviously in different ways. What can it mean if borders and distance don't matter as much? Are countries overlapping now?

@npub1u69…qfp9 one of the scarier things I learnt last month is that google now deletes all internal email over 6 months old EXCEPT if it is already in an active case. Googlers are mourning the loss of their extended mind.

I don't understand how an assassination attempt can be more shocking than a school shooting. I thought American shootings were normalised; I'm honestly surprised people feel more about this one. I do worry about a sympathy vote surge but shootings are so normal in the US I wonder even about that.
