AAY/yap contact discourse feels like a catch 22. If the problem with those relationships is a lack of societal support and minor agency, the solution would be to create societal support and encourage minor agency... But in order to convince society to give support we have to trust child agency with what society considers a leap of faith, and if anything goes wrong society won't support anything.
So... You kind of have to have a bunch of AAYs/YAPs do wrong, until hopefully enough goes right, that society can maybe prevent the remaining wrongs enough to bring it to the traditional level of risk all relationships have. What breaks first? AAYs/yaps being in denial about how risky it is, or society making those relationships more risky than they need to be? Excluding the exceptions and only looking at the true averages, that dont currently exist, because it's bias towards one side. We kind of just don't have good data to make choices with either way, it's all biases and anecdotes.

We all need a space to just shoot the shit, but pedi in particular doesn't do a good job at conveying what's just edgy humor and what's serious. Both can be found here. You don't go to 4chan to be serious, if you do it's in a dedicated general where seriousness is an established tone. Several people on pedi however have openly talked about not understanding what is/isn't a joke, so some shitposts are being taken at face value because there is no clear establishment of tone. It's annoying when others don't seem to know what's an obvious joke, but because it's happening, the responsible thing to do as a community would be to figure out how to better establish tones or encourage a bigger separation of content (we have multiple instances, we should dedicate some to being about seriousness only, maybe?)

I've been thinking about this for days now, but some of the people here sound like they're taking this 4chan slogan to heart and not realizing that 4chan being a cesspool IS because of this type of thinking. It normalizes genuine shitty beliefs because everyone was able to brush off everything as a joke until suddenly it wasn't a joke anymore...
Edit for clarity: This post is about a number of users have openly expressed how they struggle to discern serious posts from joke posts, and simply telling them to learn how to not take everything seriously isn't really a good solution to that, because that type of reaction can make it very easy for genuinely harmful beings to accuse others of just not getting jokes whenever they have concerns about things. Which may further lead to less beings speaking out about what they find harmful because they'd be afraid of looking stupid or ruining others fun
