All that is fine and dandy but my personal issues with the whole tts/stt are:
- I don't feel comfortable talking to my/any device
- I don't want to do it around other people
- even if I'm ever in a situation where I can and would want to do it, I don't want to do it in english, as it is not my native language (and speech recognition for my language - Croatian/Serbian/Bosnian - is rarely offered, as we are an insignificant market)

While I agree with you on not seeing the use of it, I think we have to look at the bigger picture - the more people it is available to, the bigger the chance somebody can get some use/benefit from it.
