Yes! I agree, how he got away without a penalty while Hamilton was slapped with one is beyond me. I felt bad for Oscar, though he did do his best under the circumstances.

2026-07-19 19:17:28 UTC

Heck of a race. I don’t think Lewis deserved the five second penalty. I hope the Ferrari pit crew person is alright, that looked painful. Congratulations Kimi on the win! Is it just me, or was Max completely enamored with King Philippe of Belgium? Both in the cooldown room and the podium. Also, awesome seeing Max on the podium. Ferrari is getting pretty competitive! Liam vs Linblad, wow.

Gamers: Do you like achievements/trophies?
I do, it gives me a sense of progression and something for me to chase after. This is why I don't game that much on my Nintendo Switch/Switch 2 because they don't have achievements.
I definitely do not grind for 100% achievements, that makes a game feel like work. I just like having something that shows that I achieved things in a game. I know that some feel that achievements are "meta" parts of a game and they detract from playing a game.
What do you think?

I am in South San Jose and I got woken up by a MyShake and a general iOS alert about an M6 (at the time) earthquake in Redwood Valley, CA… 165 miles away.
I hope everyone near the epicenter of the earthquake is okay, I didn’t feel a thing. I’m wondering if alert distance thresholds should be adjusted. I’m quite far from the epicenter and I’m not sure an alert was necessary for me.

The kids and I watched **Everything Everywhere All at Once** tonight. They were both super wowed by the movie and rated it **10** out of 10 (my rating is also **10** out of 10).
**Everything Everywhere All at Once** is an action, sci-fi and family drama film and it is one of the best movies I have seen in years. Visually stunning, all original and a perfectly balanced movie that straddles so many genres. **Everything Everywhere All at Once** had me laughing and crying. It is exceedingly funny, yet heartbreaking and touching. I highly recommended **Everything Everywhere All at Once**.
This movie is a masterpiece.
**The Googly Eye is the inverse of the Everything Bagel**.

Lately I have been moving my workflows away from Microsoft Office and onto [LibreOffice](https://www.libreoffice.org ). For a while, I couldn't figure out how to manage images in a Writer document like I did in Word, but finally figured it out.
I did a quick write up of what I experienced and how I was able to setup Writer to work like Word -- and keep my workflow the same. It was an easy change.

I have had Ooma for a home phone line forever. But, over the last few years I haven't used it for much -- maybe a fax here and there, but never any phone calls. So, I finally decided to cancel the service and save $8/mo. I thought the cancelation process would be easy. It wasn't.
First, there's no way to cancel online. A service that runs voice-over-IP doesn't have it in their system to allow people to cancel their service on their website. So, I called the support number to cancel. The phone tree was insane. I always take note of what I'm pushing when I go through a phone tree just in case I get disconnected. This is what I pushed to get to a human to cancel my service:
2-2-2-3-1-4-4-2
When I did get to a live human, I was hit with a barrage of questions about why I'm canceling, where am I going, was there anything they could do better, etc. Eventually I stopped being nice and told the person: Look, I'm here to cancel my service. Cancel it and stop asking me questions. They did.

"Suppose we just finished poisoning the earth and everyone was dead in a hundred years. Then what was the point of anything? Art, beauty-all gone-the Greeks, the Constitution, people dying for freedom, ideas. None of it meant anything? What about religion? Do we give up on God too? I realized science couldn't answer any of the really interesting questions. So, I turned to philosophy. I've been searching for God ever since. Who knows, I may pick up a rock and it'll say underneath, 'Made by God.' The universe is full of surprises." -Chantilas, Red Planet

Really exciting race!
I would have liked to see who would actually have won if George’s car didn’t break down. I actually felt bad for George. That was a bunch of good racing while George’s car lasted. Congrats Kimi on the win.
Lewis on the podium? Awesome! Seeing him so happy is great.
Max on the podium? Fantastic — it’s been too long.
I think the stewards were a bit too much during this race — especially towards Hadjar.
McLaren’s call to start Lando and Oscar on inters was a horrible decision. Felt bad for Lando especially for both losing the advantage from the qualifying and also the broken car.

Agreed 100%. Now that you mention that the Grogu focused portion felt like a standalone episode ... this movie does feel like three episodes mashed into one -- the opening with the AT ATs, the gladiator Hutt part, the Hutt palace invasion and then the Grogu part.

2026-05-23 00:25:56 UTC

Today's movie was **Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu** (2026).
The Mandalorian and Grogu is a fun Star Wars adventure while is lasts, but ultimately will be forgotten or remembered as a good two hour Season 4 of the show.
The first two thirds of the movie was a rollicking bunch of action, but then it abruptly slows down to a crawl and had me looking at my watch multiple times. I am not sure why they stretched out this portion of the movie so long. While it did add to the growth of Grogu, it did not warrant the amount of time that spent on it.
Now Disney has two John Wicks in their stable. With The Punisher: One Last Kill, Disney produced the John Wick of Marvel. With The Mandalorian and Grogu, Disney has produced the John Wick of Star Wars. The action sequences in The Mandalorian and Grogu are well done and well choreographed, but they lack any of the visceral energy of a John Wick action sequence. This is understandable though because of its PG-13 rating.
I really enjoyed the use of practical effects, along with a full sequence using stop motion in the film. I also like that the filmmakers used real sets which gave the movie a more grounded and real feel when compared to the streaming show which made ample use of The Volume.
It was great to see Sigourney Weaver back in space, but wow she really phoned home her performance. It was fun seeing Dave Filoni's cameo in the film.
The most awesome thing was seeing Zeb on the big screen. Star Wars Rebels is my favorite of the Star Wars shows (animated or live), so seeing the crew of The Ghost continue to expand into other Star Wars projects is wonderful.
Worth mentioning is the excellent score from Ludwig Göransson which has a very experimental sound to it.
The Mandalorian and Grogu will entertain Star Wars fans, though it will probably not expand the fan base of Star Wars. I was entertained enough and will likely watch it again when it hits Disney+. Is The Mandalorian and Grogu a movie to be experienced on the big screen? Not really, it would be a fine movie to watch at home when it hits Disney+.
Rated **6** out of 10.

I thought I would use Phanpy with it more, but I'm not. I enjoy the snac web interface.

Works (mostly) with Mastodon clients.

No crazy caching of photos, avatars and other media. I love to read, but don't do it enough. The other day I picked up a Xteink X4 for $69 and I have been using it a bunch -- I'm currently reading H.P. Lovecraft's [Short Fiction](https://standardebooks.org/ebooks/h-p-lovecraft/short-fiction ) from Standard Ebooks. This reader is so tiny and easy to carry around that it is a great way to not doom scroll and just read a good book.
I replaced the stock OS with [CrossPoint Reader](https://github.com/crosspoint-reader/crosspoint-reader ) which makes it a lot faster and easier to use (it was easy to switch over). One of the nice things is that there is a mode that turns the reader into an access point, I connect to it and there is a tiny web server on the reader itself that allows me to upload books, manage books and manage the reader's settings.
Here's a picture of it next to my iPhone 16 Pro and a Hot Wheels car.
