How much of what you pay for Kagi goes to their AI stuff? They quite prominently push their Kagi Assistant. Can that be turned off or easily ignored?

yes, and these dams, aside from having had proven engineering problems, were also subject to a massive natural disaster (1-in-2000 year rainfalls, more than the average *yearly* rainfall in *a single day*).
To say that hydro power caused those 200k deaths is deeply, deeply disingenuous.

Your [1] is *precisely* the moronic source I'm talking about. To attribute the deaths from the Banqiao Dam disaster - a dam that has never produced a single of electricity and in fact was never even *equipped* to do so - to hydro-power, is a mental contortion that's beyond idiotic and only serves to distort facts and figures.

looks like I got out of that ecosystem just in time. Bought a Kobo last year and converted all my Kindle books.
Now I better get the rest of my Audible audiobooks downloaded and converted before they slam that door closed as well.

but it's one of their main talking points. Aided by the Murdoch media who constantly talk about how out of control youth crime is. They probably know they're not doing anything to reduce crime. But it enables them to look tough while not actually changing anything. Because if they had to address youth crime properly, they would lose one of their key talking points, and then they'd actually have to come up with ideas.
