For me, social media is not too attractive, I would be happy to follow artists and institutions via RSS. But the negative impact of the capitalist social media on democracy and people is real, let's fix this.

Last week, I had an online meeting with the developers of #Gancio, #Mobilizon and #LAUTI. We either found out that we had already planned our trip to this year's #FOSDEM or were thinking about it. Not at all! But I don't want personalized sorting algorithms which most significant effect is to increase our screen time and that are too complicated to both understand or control them.

Jetzt wurden am #FediDay in einer halben Stunde mehrmals "Empfehlungs- und Ranking Algorithmen" erwähnt (personalisierte, denke ich, waren gemeint). Das will ich nicht. Plattformen im Fediverse sollen attraktiv sein, ja, aber nicht unnötig süchtig machen, auch nicht als opt-in.

One more time it becomes clear to me that #flohmarkt (a fediverse market place), #bookwyrm (a decentral place for book, ratings and reviews) and events in the fediverse habe quite some problems in common. For example semantic hashtags, or call them categories, or focussing on non-note contents. I hope we can to collaborate more on solving these issues! #Fediday

Does @npub17gp…7p4g alreay support or has plans to support statistics which parts of a video got watched most? Of course via ActivityPub extensions. Could be either private as a reflection for the editor or public. #PeerTube #ActivityPub

I wonder if Mastodon quotes aren't technically related more to embeds than "actual quotes". Cause what a Mastodon quote is doing is always referring to the whole quoted object (Note) without specifying where (and of course the consent, which is magnificent!). So maybe an embed could just be an extended Mastodon-quote where it is specified where it is in the content, e.g. via just using <embed> tags.
"actual quotes": being able to quote parts of something, putting it into context (where in content) and being referring to the whole origin source.
I see that we should continue this discussion on socialhub/the FEPs discussion places.

As you wrote a FEP for quoting, I really wonder what you think: isn't it that linking, embedding and quoting have quite something in common, so shouldn't their implementations be derivatives from each other?

Should we ever think of a way how to embed ActivityPub objects into others (in the content)? E.g. embedding a Question object within a long Article?

Hmm, I would enjoy seeing a contributions welcome or a label that indicates that possible better solutions need to be sketched out first, rather than having a not planned label on that issue

A question to my fellow #Fediverse developers: how do you handle if something you have announced changes? For example if gets updated, it gets deleted etc. Do you propagate an update to the followers, so that their targets instances, who might only know about that object because of your announce get informed?
