It will never not confuse and depress me that we could build wildlife tunnels and bridges under/over roads as we made them.
Every time we drive in the UK we see dead badgers, deer and more.

Got called 'stupid' by a sexist creep on the train this AM.
He plonked himself down next to a woman minding her own business to harass and chat her up, relentless. Forced his phone into her hand. I caught her eye but had no way to check in without him noticing.
She relented after a couple of stops. She got off, thankfully he didn't follow. But he did make kissy noises after her.
Turning around, he offered a fistbump to my partner next to me, Got her number! Not without a fight! (I paraphrase, he was wordy)
Gave husband a withering look. Shook my head. He's asking him, did she like me? Again, shaking my head. Partner is even more averse to stranger interaction than me.
I said, if you want to know what a woman's thinking why not ask a woman?
No, I think she wanted you to go away and leave her alone. Because she was closed off.
So many things I could have said. L'esprit d'escalier.
He rants, 'I wasn't talking to you, I was talking to your husband! Why are you talking? I didn't ask you. I asked him, man to man. Men are talking. You've been together too long. Nobody hits on you anymore so you don't get it. Man, she's too much, you need to get rid of her. She's stupid'

I am not offended if the person in front of me walks through the door that's open right next to them first.
I don't need you to let me go first.
It's not 'gentlemanly', it's benevolent sexism at very best, and it's not even 'kind' or helpful.
It's awkward. It's uncomfortable. Don't position yourself behind me. It makes the woman who's then forced in front of you *less* comfortable (usually).
If you feel offended by this suggestion, why?

Please share so your well-meaning uncle/brother/mate/whoever stops making women uncomfortable in this small way.
This AM a guy in a jacket (with a dodgy flaggy/police-y looking patch on it) and wearing some sort of lanyard got in the lift on my way out of the building.
He tried to make me walk past him at ground even though he was right next to the fucking door. I HATE THIS. SO MUCH.
I've said before and will again but men trying to make us walk past them in close quarters is NOT welcome (not just to me, maybe not for everyone, but)
I loudly said "No you go, you're in front of me!" and didn't move so he thankfully went.
But I don't need this nonsense. What if you get a bad'un? Definitely don't want to be squeezing past them.
(it's not a big lift)

Baffled as to why our extensive sprawling car parks (at services, or wherever) do not have coverings with solar panels on top.

yep, since it takes decades for the cancer to develop, we're now seeing the impact on people who were installing it in the 60s-80s.
It's horrific, very hard to treat, most won't survive. We didn't know at the time, is the thing.
But we already have evidence that LLMs can kill people too. The absolute lack of giving a shit is overwhelming.

I got cut off from my account that had some ebooks on it when I moved back to the UK from the US.
I forgot to change my 2FA mobile and had no access to the number once I left.
No way to log in.
Spoke to "customer support" - 'use another email to make an account' - how will I access my library?? 'It's fine'. It wasn't fine. I've never been able to get back in. UK support won't help, US issue, US won't help as I can't prove it's my account, or you can only use US numbers to speak to them or whatever. The two depts won't talk to each other.
And changing my address on our 'family' plan locked my partner out of the device for like 6 months. I so regret that we bought it. I use it with Libby and that's it.

Please remember, dog people, when it's breeding season (Spring/Summer), there are nesting birds and other wildlife hidden away in the grass, under rocks, behind trees etc.
Letting your dog run off-lead through meadows etc is highly disruptive to breeding animals and can kill them. You might not see or realise.
Please leash/lead your dog in open and wild spaces. Run with them, stay on trails and pathways as much as possible

Yeah, there's a lot of positive to be had outside the gigantic, fashy mega-corps that have taken over/enshittified the most popular stuff.
That we can have this (or any) chat cross-continents and expand our understanding, get a glimpse into other ways of living and thinking - super valuable.
See the beauty of the world at our fingertips - and the constant horrors many of us were so easily ignorant of before, using righteous anger to push for better.
There's a lot of shit, misinformation and danger on the internet.
But it's also made of cats, so.
I am VERY glad we did not have 'social media' when I was at school - I do feel for kids/teens now, who have all this to navigate with so little support (or active making-it-worse) from adults and policymakers.
