It could have been this simple. Platitudes. They could have just left a few platitudes, like they so often do on so many other topics.

Spontaneous Homelab project: Looking into YaCy as a Google search replacement. IT's a P2P distributed search engine, which I find a really nice concept. So let's see what it can do.

Yes. People who couldn't be arsed to write a single word of documentation for their human colleagues suddenly don't have any issue at all with writing miles and miles of instructions for their AI colleagues.
Same for people who previously couldn't find time to mentor a student or new junior colleague because "it's too much work to describe the task in enough detail". For their LLM? No problem at all. 🤷
That's the one that really gets under my skin.

Note especially the last paragraph. These are people living through a genocide. Barely. A genocide supported in one way or another by many of the countries we're living in.

Yupp, I've deployed Frogejo into a new Namespace, with Gitea still running. And now I'm transferring everything, project by project, with Forgejo's import functionality. And it's painful.

Now that Thanos is done and my metrics ingest rate is reasonable again, the next project is migrating from Gitea to Forgejo.
I had wanted to do that as part of the k8s migration already. But I had really bad timing. On the Friday of the weekend I wanted to start, I had my regular services update. And I upgraded Gitea past the point where Forgejo was a simple drop-in replacement. 🤦

A question for my followers from the United States: I've seen a couple of posts now where people are talking about their canvassing, and how they've now got apps which tell them who's a registered Rep/Dem and who's already voted, so they can skip that door.
I somewhat understand the Rep/Dem thing. But is data about who voted actually public in the US? That just seems like something that really doesn't need to be public info.

I will go with Workstation with the Cinnamon spin. I thought about Silverblue, but for now I just want a working System on my Laptop.
I don't have any experience with the Atomic distros and decided to skip them until I have had a chance to test them a bit in a VM.

Someone needs to stop me. I'm about to switch my laptop from Manjaro to Fedora in a moving train where it's entirely uncertain when it will actually arrive and whether I will continue to have Internet connectivity. 😬
I've already mounted my old encrypted home dir inside the live image to back it up.

This is a good point, but I think it's not just true for novice users. I've been on the Fediverse since August 2022. But I've only got a very superficial view on the overall diplomatic situation. If I decided to move away from my self-hosted instance, I would not have any idea where to move. And I've been here for a while now.

I'm currently reading through the new report on Fediverse governance, and it's interesting for me to read about what the larger servers are doing.
I'm currently in the "General Observations" part: https://fediverse-governance.github.io/#section-one:-overall-observations
In there, the authors call what I've been calling "admin feuds" "diplomacy" instead, and I like that framing, because it fits surprisingly well - you don't have any instruments to directly influence other servers, but you have some indirect methods.
