Thanks. The article is correct. The toot was not. Nothing was "seized" and the DOI did not demand that they invest in FF projects instead. As the article notes, Ocean Winds entered into the agreement voluntarily, for a payoff.

I don't have a subscription to that publication but I haven't found any evidence that the administration “seized” CPP Investments’ assets, nor that CPP Investments itself was specifically ordered to invest in fossil fuels. Do you have supporting evidence for those claims?

Solar and batteries can power the world! It's cheaper than gas (esp. at today's prices) and a lot more reliable.

The thing nearly all media commentators have missed (because nobody knows nothin’ about energy in media) is that Venezuela has a lot of oil alright, but it’s heavy sour, hard to produce, hard to refine, and hard to transport, requiring:
• Conventional drilling + artificial lift
• Diluent blending (to move viscous heavy crude)
• Upgraders and partial refining for export markets
• Enhanced recovery techniques where feasible
• Specialized infrastructure to handle sour, high-viscosity crude

Longtime listeners to @npub1ass…xqkk know that I've been keenly interested in the FirstEnergy / Larry Householder corruption scandal that rocked Ohio in 2019, leaving a legacy of coal and nuclear plants that should have been retired long ago, utility commission corruption, suicides and ratepayers left holding the bag.

Isn't it strange that while Musk's dancing about on stage with a chainsaw at CPAC got lots of media coverage, none (that I saw) ever mentioned that the guy who handed him the chainsaw was the hard-right president of Argentina, Javier Milei, who has used a chainsaw as a prop for his own attacks on Argentina's gov't--especially to benefit their oil & gas industry and dismantle their climate change efforts?
