PatternBase is live. Permaculture design software for food forest planners, guild designers, and homesteaders.
Design in plant communities, not rows. Climate matching shows what's working for growers in your bioregion. Every observation you log builds a shared evidence base for regenerative growing.
Free tier, no time limit. Bitcoin accepted (15% off).
25% of all revenue funds ecological restoration through the Earth Care Fund.

Your garden is an ecosystem. It's time your tools understood that.
I built PatternBase for gardeners who think in systems — guild designers, food forest planners, and anyone who knows a garden is more than rows.
Launching March 3. Link in bio.

Nice work Ben, having worked in tasting rooms and wineries, it’s really hard to get all the variables right. I hope you’ve got a lot in your cellar as you’ll be wanting to keep drinking this into your old age 🫡

Sorry for not giving you a better answer. I think the codification of the best base chain with the largest network effect will mean that bitcoin devs will find a way to absorb moneros unique properties in unique and novel ways over time. I don’t know enough about monero is the honest truth and my focus is on permaculture and my business and my young family. My time is limited. I may be wrong but right now I’m stacked with responsibilities and I don’t have the capacity like I once did to go down deep technical rabbit holes. I wish you all the best and im sure we are driving in the same direction on slightly different paths 🫡

I need to tell you where this comes from, because it's not a startup idea I had in a shower. It's really the intersection of everything I care about.

I've been dedicated to Bitcoin since 2017. I did my Permaculture Design Certificate in 2018. At that PDC (about 40 people in the room) I gave a talk about why Bitcoin mattered. The price was around $3,000. I stood in front of a room full of old and new permaculture practitioners and tried to explain why sound money, sovereignty, and decentralized systems were as important to resilience as soil biology and water harvesting.

I was laughed at. Genuinely ridiculed. People who understood that centralized food systems were fragile couldn't see that centralized money was the same problem. I knew I was right. Not about the price - about the principle. That sovereignty is indivisible. You can't be free in your food but dependent on your money. You can't be free in your money but dependent on your food.

Eight years later, the people in that room probably understand Bitcoin a bit differently. And I still believe the same thing I believed then: that the most important work you can do is build systems that make people harder to coerce. Hard money. Hard food. Hard knowledge.

PatternBase is where my three deepest convictions meet: Bitcoin, sovereignty, and food. It's not a side project. It's not a portfolio piece. It's a life mission - building the tool I wish existed when I was sitting in that PDC classroom, trying to explain to people who grew their own food that they should also own their own money and their own data.

I'm not building this to flip it. I'm building it because someone has to, and I've spent the last 8 years becoming the person who can.

Alright here goes: start simple and learn as you go, observe and document. So a small space setup in Singapore id go for something like:
1 chili plant (main pot)
1 Thai basil
1 spring onion/chives pot
1 tray of kangkong which is basically asian spinach you should be able to find
Quick rules - 4-6 hour of sun on a window or balcony, if low light get a 20-40W grow light and have it on 12 hours/day. Water when the top soil is dry and then add an organic liquid fertilizer every 2 weeks.
You’ll be able to harvest the spring onions after 3 to 4 weeks, basil 4 to 6 weeks and chili 8 to 12 weeks.

Absolutely! It can still be useful even in a spot with limited space. It works well for small scale setups like windowsills, balcony planters or indoor grow light shelves. The value is planning with intention and not guessing.
Start with one anchor plant, choose a few compatible companions and track what actually works in your exact light and humidity conditions over time. The more you input the more you get out! Also I’m hoping that all the urban growers out there use it and we build more and more knowledge as to what the best things to plant indoors actually are! If you want I can suggest a simple apartment/flat friendly starter setup (like 3-5 plants) that you can run in containers that will complement each other and help you get your hands dirty like tomorrow haha

I’ve been gardening for years and every app I tried felt like it was made by someone who's never pulled a weed. So I built my own.
PatternBase is a garden design tool for permaculture people — guild planting, climate matching, multi-year planning. The stuff nobody else bothers with because it's not sexy enough for Silicon Valley.
No investors. No ads. I don't sell your data. Accepts bitcoin through BTCPay because I'm not going to preach sovereignty and then make Stripe the only option.
25% of what the platform earns goes into an Earth Care Fund — land projects, open research, community grants. Public ledger. Bitcoin treasury. It's not a campaign, it's how the business runs.
Turns out food sovereignty and financial sovereignty are the same fight.
