#ScribesAndMakers September 7. What 'character' (letter, number, symbol, punctuation, space) would make a great main character?
I think * would be interesting. They certainly turn up in a lot of my drafts as place holders. Time to step out into their own world.

#ScribesAndMakers September 6. Have you ever listened to an audiobook where the reader had a good voice, but not the 'right' voice?
I haven't. I don't listen to audiobooks often for this to be a thing. But I have heard this mentioned by friends who listen to a lot of audiobooks and dramas. It sounds like it can ruin the experience.

#ScribesAndMakers August 4. Reverse of last month's question: if e-books stopped being produced, how much would you miss them?
I would miss them a lot and it would greatly change how much I'm able to read. I don't have the same love of ebooks as I do physical books but they are much more practical for me. I'm able to read wherever I go. It would be hard to give that up.

Today's featured creator is: @npub126z…l58s
Do you include any poetry in your novels? Have any poems (yours or others) inspired one of your novels?

#ScribesAndMakers August 29. At age 11, our TTMD guest answered 'What do you want to be when you grow up?' with 'Author.' Do you know what you wanted to be at 11?"
I'm not sure exactly, I went through phases when I was a kid with what I wanted to be when I grew up from professional athlete to doctor to farmer. I was kind of all over the place, which is what I am now too. So it's nice that held up over time.

#ScribesAndMakers August 26. Describe how it feels to be "locked in" to your work.
It's like a trance. I am completely unaware of the outside world and time seems to pause. Then I come out of it 3 hours later and realize I've written a chapter.

Yes there is a mint one, though it's smell is fairly weak. Not enough to freshen one's breath. Not that I'd know

#WritersCoffeeClub June 7. Do you avoid expressions, idioms, colloquialisms, or embrace them?
I embrace them but in a specific way; I make up my own for the world and cultures that I've created. It's one of the more enjoyable parts of writing and world-building.

#WritersCoffeeClub May 9. C&R: Share the first line of your current WIP. Everyone: How enticed are you?
The dagger slid into the man’s back with an unnerving ease.

#WritersCoffeeClub Jan 4. Share a tool of your trade.
A thesaurus. One of the most important tools for me. Otherwise all my words would be not very good sounding.

#WordWeavers Dec 3. What’s the best thing about the world of your story?
There's a pretty neat tree, I think.

#ScribesAndMakers Nov 23. What's the lowest number of readers/viewers/users of your creative work that you would consider cause for celebration?
A single reader is definitely worth a celebration. I write for myself and because I enjoy it but I also want to share my stories with others. More readers would call for a bigger celebration though.

I've tried but I really struggle with it. Some of it is the writing and some of it is the story construction. But you're right that it's probably a good exercise to help me be more concise

#WritersCoffeeClub Sept 16. What was the hardest writerly lesson for you to learn? Or unlearn?
To write concisely and clearly. It sounds so simple but I kept mucking it up with too many words. I think I'm getting better, especially in the editing process, but even now I still find convoluted sentences and paragraphs.

#ScribesAndMakers Aug 14. What's the funniest needlework you've ever made or seen? Can you share a picture?
I'm sure there's funnier but I enjoy the "peace was never an option" goose meme in needlepoint. It gives me a chuckle.

Today's the day. Shadow of the Elders is out now🎉
A character-driven low, dark fantasy featuring morally grey characters, endless adventures and mysteries, and a strange magic that threatens to shatter an already broken world.
If you've been interested or curious about anything I've posted about the story over the past couple years, check it out. Only available on Amazon for now, going wide over the summer. Thanks

Hi RS,
You've mentioned coming back from burnout. How are you trying to keep from burning out in the future? Any tips or tricks to share for others when they get burned out?

Ha, that's great! Thank you for sharing this, I hadn't seen it before

#writerscoffeeclub May31. What other hashtags inspire you on Mastodon or similar?
There are the writing and book-related ones like # wordweavers # pennedpossibilites # Bookstodon # AmWriting ...etc.
But I also love # bloomscrollling and # mosstodon and # boardgames and # wildlife. They don't always inspire me but they often do.
