>So let’s talk about how a man’s fist came to impact directly upon a woman’s head. That happened in a women’s domestic violence refuge in Dublin. The man has a certificate, issued to him under the terms of the GRA, that says he is a woman. That’s how he was able to be a resident in a women’s refuge. He is a fit, well-built man in his thirties. His victim, also a resident in the refuge, was a 60-year-old woman of slight stature. Prior to the passing of the GRA, that woman could have reasonably expected to be safe from male violence when she was living in a women’s refuge. Not anymore.
>At the man’s subsequent trial and conviction for assault, the court heard how he had beaten his victim to the ground, sat upon her, punched her repeatedly to the head and ripped clumps of hair from her scalp. (He got a three month suspended sentence.)
>The most shocking and newsworthy part of the story, that a woman had been beaten up by a man she had been forced to live with in a women’s refuge, was hidden from the public by our cowardly Irish journalists.

I've had long hair since it first grew in as a child. It's comb, braid & go for me. I have always been disinclined to having a "hairdo". Too much fuss & expense over something not terribly important.
But I *often* like the look of short hair on other women. There are women who are *so* beautiful or interesting-looking that the shortest hair highlights their best features.

Yes, the presentation surely was choppy, but I stuck with it, and came away with much food for thought.
I don't know how other women want to deal with positions taken by those women with whom we do not agree, but I choose to keep our most essential issues front & center. *I don't expect to agree with every woman on every issue*. And while I may express some criticism with how some women express themselves, or disagree with a certain point of view, I try not to spend my energy getting angry or spouting vitriol at them. "Standing with women", for me, means putting differences aside in order to advocate for all of us.

The “becoming” of The Second Sex — when she wrote, “woman is not a fixed reality but a becoming” — was not a declaration of trans-affirming identity politics but a process of existing within constraint. You become a woman through the social meanings imposed on your body; you don’t simply decide to be one. The body is not a costume, and freedom is not fantasy. Beauvoir had already seen how her ideas could be hollowed out by those eager to escape the body. In the 1970s, French feminists re-cast her existential materialism into a language of symbols; today, some trans-affirming theorists repeat the gesture, mistaking her philosophy of embodiment for a licence to disown it.
>Beauvoir would have recognised genuine suffering in those at odds with their embodiment — she took suffering seriously, as the price of existence itself. But she would never have confused that suffering with the cultural play of self-invention that now passes for liberation. They are told that any failure by others to affirm, validate, and include them based on their claimed identity is equal to hate. But let’s be clear, the values of affirmation, validation, and inclusion are not universally good or moral values. They are only good and moral in certain situations.
>Affirmation and validation are good things to offer when it comes to someone’s emotions. Someone tells you they are hurt or angry, and you can say “I acknowledge that you are hurt/angry.” But this scenario does not ask the validator to deny or abandon their own sense perceptions of reality. But when affirming and validating means going against the evidence of one’s own eyes and ears, then it becomes harmful. Sex recognition is a primal animal instinct that is engrained in all animals. Infants as young as 9 days old can distinguish between the sexes. Having a high-functioning safeguarding impulse relies on being able to trust one’s instincts. Any practice of behavior that is counter-instinctual creates dissociation and dissonance and dulls the instinctive response system. Our responsibility to ourselves is to stay grounded in reality, the primacy of our senses, and to trust our body’s signals. Teaching kids to deny these signals is a safeguarding failure.
>Inclusion also sounds like a wonderful value, and it is if you’re talking about inviting all the kids in your 3rd-grade class to your birthday. But when it comes to safeguarding boundaries are needed. And boundaries are necessarily exclusive. When boys are taught they are entitled to violate girls’ boundaries when it comes to their privacy in intimate spaces, it teaches them to practice predatory and abusive behavior. And when girls are taught by teachers and school boards that their boundaries around their bodies don’t matter, it teaches them that there is no one to turn to to help them uphold their boundaries. It teaches them to dissociate and deny their own discomfort in order to emotionally support boys. This is the opposite of healthy bodily autonomy, authority, and boundaries. This creates a vulnerability to future predation. This teaches them to accept abuse and become the caretaker of their abuser.

I spent a couple of days with a Women's Community, near the Catskills in the late 1970s, to do a performance of a Feminist theatrical piece I put together. These women's lives were full, living with respect & simplicity, because they wanted to feel a connection to each other & the Earth. Building & repairing things themselves. (I *must* mention the *huge* record collection of *only women* performers; the first time I heard Alix Dobkin). Their example stayed with me. They are still my teachers, decades later. This is why I am motivated to live as simply as possible, to acquire things second-hand rather than new, etc.
Eco-Feminists saw the connection between how the Earth & Women's Bodies are treated. No people, place or thing is *sacred* when it comes to PROFIT. If the the "powers that be" want YOU, what's on your land, or what you have *they will just take it*. Land-theft is happening *all over the world*, today. And *women's voices are always among the loudest pushing back* against the insanity of it.

I think "word problems" in math are *exactly used* to test both reading comprehension *and* math - which is not at all a bad thing. Also, to show math is useful in our lives. I just personally disliked combining words & numbers, *especially in a test!* Arg! It made my head hurt. I'd rather solve for "X" in a polynomial.

Ponder the insanity of it: a woman faces jail time for calling a MAN, (who “identifies as a woman”), a MAN. Which is what he is, pre-op or post-op, down to his XY chromosomes & his male privilege demanding that all of society participate in his fetish.
Rex, and other women like her, are being punished for telling the truth. Our “secular” governments have been taken over by Genderism, which is a belief system, complete with zealots, who want to hurt - anyway they can - women who won’t play along & pretend.
Truth is not hate, and women around the world support Rex, whose right to free speech in a supposedly Democratic society, is at stake.

Personally, I am not terribly interested in the motive. A man was murdered, let the murderer be tried *for murder*.
