it being canadian had nothing to do with it. i fly into laguardia on regional jets 4 or 5 times a month and its always, always super busy. if you're leaving in the afternoon there is always a massive line because of flow concerns. you can set a watch by the delay.

things such as accumulation of rates of change. take the position of an object- we start kids off on basic 'object is going 5 m/s, how far has it gone after X seconds' word problems. but of course we start to move into variable speed and acceleration. being able to understand the relationship between acceleration and velocity makes these problems not only possible to solve without memorizing rules, but actually easy because acceleration is simply the rate of change of velocity
i remember getting through my first semester of calc and looking back and so much of stuff i hated about math was stuff that was actually calculus, but no one ever explained to me

personally i'd re-order the entire math curriculum to emphasize simple calculus in elementary school, so you can teach geometry and algebra without dumb memorization rules
it doesn't need to be in depth calculus, but simple derivatives and the idea of an integral are in reach even for younger kids

generally the bank takes the property but won't evict the tenant. it is very hard to evict a tenant that can prove they were paying rent properly even if the landlord was blowing it on drugs and gambling or w/e. it can be done but its just a huge pain. its not worth going through the litigation especially since that tenant is a reliable revenue stream for their distressed property
