I will be creating a #v4vmusic Facebook group to create a touchpiont for listeners and artists alike to be introduced to the events and advantages of this space before they even join the space. It would be helpful if I could get various people (artists, show hosts, builders etc ) already in the space to act as ambassadors, to join the Facebook group and help post events happening in v4v music. It could be new artists, new song releases, live streams, show promotions etc. It could be about how @npub1yfg…v6vg and @npub1v5u…n0v5 make it easy to dip your toe into uploading and listening. It could be posting memes like @npub1yzv…rf8q about the advantages of #v4v over legacy platforms. It should be culture focused, music focused and not overly techy. yes, I really went down a rabbit hole during the scamdemic about the legal system and how there is a difference between legal and lawful. And the legal system essentially tricks you into tacit consent by creating a fictional corporate legal identity through the birth certificate and essentially any other government ID you apply for. Have you done any research into this as well??

Is that when adobe went to a subscription model instead owning a version for a onetime price?:yeah I hate that too. A lot of DAWs also do the stupid yearly subscription thing. That's why I use cubase. I own it outright for life after paying once. I know industry professionals probably like upgrading to the latest version every year but I don't care. Still learning everything in the one I have haha. And yeah , it sort of looked like you were using some graphic design software or AI

I have used both web based clients and apps on pc. For web based clients mainly satellite.earth and primal. Nostria app on pc is great. I find if I have the opportunity I like pc for browsing nostr. Is easier and faster. I also have a really old phone and sometimes I think the new updates for clients slow it down for my old phone

When replying in conversations I like the phone because you can just quickly get your response out. If I make a post I try to do it from pc to properly write it out and it’s easier to add links and photos etc. unless the photo is already on my phone.

Getting more listeners is a major step as everyone mentioned. Part of it I think, is having easy touch pionts into the space without actually having to join the space, if that makes sense. Take Wavlake or amplifiedtunes.online. You can send simple urls or webpages for people to check out and see and listen to things going on in the space without actually needing to join nostr or download another app. I think as soon as you ask people to download an app to access a realm they know nothing about, you have already lost half the people. Then telling them about cryptographic key pairs and lightning wallets looses the other half.
ALSO…we need to bring discussion of V4V music onto legacy platforms. Having people who have already joined talk about it on nostr doesn’t reach anyone. If we had a small but passionate team of people start to create V4V Facebook groups, and whatever the equivalent is on other platforms, they could slowly build a following on these platforms, make people aware and interested enough that maybe after several touch points or having it simmer in the back of their brain for a few months, decide to join.
That’s more the listener side. On the artist side, I think something needs to be done to make it more financially incentivized. Tell musicians to join and hope that a small number of people zap them from the goodness of their hearts is a tough selling feature. Maybe it’s sacrilege to say this around here, but what if the Spotify model would be good but just by cutting out Spotify as the middle man. What if a protocol could be developed that would allow artists to create a sort of subscription model that would open up their full catalogue to people who subscribe and pay say 1000 sats a month? Kinda like auto boosts and subscriptions joined together but subscribing to the specific artist and not a whole platform. Artist could have like a couple sample songs available for free to anyone, and people that want to check out more can subscribe to the artist and unlock their whole catalogue. And of course send zaps like always if they want to. I know lots of people think completely open and free is best because it goes with the open source protocol ethos, but if most people can freeload without having to give up anything, they will. So some sort of middle ground between free and open and a “subscription or paywall” may offer the best of both worlds for artists and listeners alike?

Thanks for the input! I appreciate it. Most people seem to like the studio version better but the live version definitely has a raw energy to it. We also have a live a studio version if a song called Too Late to be Found. The studio version if that actually maybe has just as much energy it no more!

I think a big part too is that some people follow hundreds or thousands of accounts. One account putting out a post can get lost in the abyss if it’s one of hundreds of posts. But yes, using hashtags, reposting or tagging specific accounts you think would be interested helps. I have also been experimenting with @nprofile…qp29. I wouldn’t use it for every post but if there is something you want to receive a lot of attention like a new song release you can put up a few thousand sats and reward people for engaging. Question…if someone isn’t connected to the same relays that you use to post do they not see your note?! The whole relay thing is still a bit of a mystery to me. I know sometimes different clients have different default relays, but in theory shouldn’t all relays that use the same protocol still allow you to see notes posted with relays you are not connected to?

We have several releases coming in the months ahead and we want to partner with some music shows for some exclusive releases, meaning we want the first time our song is heard to be on your show! We have some exciting content on the horizon: we will be releasing the first song featuring our drummer on vocals called Insecure; a low key, dark and ethereal sounding song that we consider to be one of our studio masterpieces. Here is a live video a fan took on her phone when we played our album release gig in 2023. This one is our latest release What You Mean To Me, and I think it really highlights how we took a song we only played live and brought it to life in our studio with overdubbing and adding other sounds. Not amazing quality but considering it was simply captured through an iPhone, its not too bad! More live footage to come!

Yes. Wavlake makes it so easy to put an AI generated song up on an rss feed and in the index. Are nostr music clients with rss feed generation also to blame? IDK if you saw my boost a couple days ago essentially asking that question, and then I had a friendly debate with some dude lol. There must be some way of filtering the AI content. I know on nostr music there sorta is. Some clients have an AI content toggle switch to reveal or hide stuff labeled as AI. Would that be possible on RSS apps?

Been on #nostr for 6 months now! And it has been such a great and refreshing experience. We have connected with some great people, other musicians, fans and some developers/builders.
When we first started, #nostrmusic was just born and so many cool clients and apps have been built for music on nostr. @nprofile…va2w is a great app for musicians to upload their music to nostr and also a great app for listeners to play music.
Also can't say enough good things about the #podcast2.0 community. There are some really dedicated listeners and show hosts that make it their mission to get new RSS music heard and have some value sent to artists. Highly recommend @nprofile…a37r Sunday Brunch episodes, @nprofile…sfrx 's show Mutton, Mead & Music, @nprofile…p3zk, @nprofile…cwhj 's show Two for Tunestr, and last but not least @nprofile…mle2 and @nprofile…vy84 's show Homegrown Hits, who only play fully decentralized music (#demu) and were awesome enough to have me on for an interview and exclusive release show on their 123rd episode!
Thanks to everyone who has helped us along the way, including @nprofile…v2r3, @nprofile…3sr2 and @nprofile…6l7w who have been great for helping us understand this wonderful world when we were new and continue to be great supporters.

I don’t think it’s so much about judging if the music is good or not. It’s about supporting people who put proof of work into their craft and art and have real talent. I would agree with your statement perhaps in the centralized/fiat realm. But this is V4V. And most people want to support other people. Not AI agents or suno songs spun up in a couple minutes.

I like using @nprofile…zkx0 as a musician not just because it has podcasts and rss music all in one app, but also because you can use the wallet LNURL fountain gives you and put it in as the rss feed as your wallet address and not worry about the difference between keysend address and LNURL address. I think fountain works their magic in the background and you can use the wallet address and still get keysend functionality for receiving boosts.

Ooo that’s sucks hard man. A couple weeks ago I accidentally spilled like half a can of beer all over my laptop keyboard and thought it was done for. Had a hard time sleeping that night, but when I woke up and turned it on it worked! Most relief I have felt since losing my wedding ring but finding it at a lost and found. I have used lots of good karma I guess so time to build it back up! 😂

Blunt Knife is an interesting title. Sounds like a much darker message than "Love is the Cure". Perhaps about the pitfalls of love? The rejection, the deception? I guess we will find out in a couple days! 🤘

Ok cool! I wonder if this was part of the problem with fountain not receiving our latest song. Because I imported the feed from the url, added the song and hit save. It worked for some other apps but I will hopefully have this figured out by next week.
