The best years of WoW were 2004-2014 (Vanilla to the end of Mists of Pandaria, the last expansion they ever did with any creativity).
10 years.
The game is 20 years old this November.
I gave up on retail WoW years ago. Everything I hear about how it's going now is it's gayer and shittier (BUT THE RAIDS, DOE!!). Worse yet, they took the idea for a single expansion and split them up into THREE expansions to milk the ideas all the way til 2028.
Put it out of its misery.

Cao Cao is not “based” in the novel but Liu Bei is idiotic.
Yet different dynasties over the centuries in China would promote either Cao Cao or Liu Bei as being the good guy. There are good points to both. But it is a historical fiction novel. The broad events happened; the details are often the fiction.
They’re basically archetypes in it.

I have yet to watch that. I read the book, which was eye-opening since this is one of the most celebrated works of Chinese literature in China.
Do they show Liu Bei despairing that his strongest warrior (Zhao Yun) nearly died while saving his son from certain death? Despairing so much, that he drops his son head down so that his son’s head strikes a rock?

the only one I remember I wanted to work on old morrowind was a sixth house mod.
for a fan work, it was pretty good, added decent lore.
then the game crashes when I try to ascend further.

I think most of the mods could be ported over, but the people who made them, if they’re still active, relied enough on the Script Extender that they don’t want to re-learn how to mod.
And, iirc, the creators of openMW don’t want to add kludge from the Script Extender to make those mods work.

yeah, they eventually want to rename it and have it be its own engine but atm, because of the volunteer nature of the work, it’s feature complete for unmodded Morrowind play (texture packs and model replacements aren’t hard, though), but that’s about it.
I might be wrong on that.
There is also the ability to play in multiplayer via tes3mp using an older version of openMW.

if it’s your first playthrough you should just use openMW.
while ye olde Morrowind has engine code patches and such, openMW fixes even more because it is its own engine. everything in the game works, as described, out of the box.
ye olde morrowind, the “unarmored” skill didn’t work without you having at least 1 piece of armor equipped, which is very unintuitive and an obvious oversight (code patch fixes that, but still).

if you don’t try to go jack of all trades it’s trivial to get your hit high enough to almost always hit.
there are leveling guides for those who want to play the game normally and specialize. the min/max guides are autistic and unfun.
also don’t bother with throwing weapons. you never get them back, you are literally throwing money away.
at least with bows, if you hit something, you might get the arrow from its corpse. you don’t get any arrows if you completely physically miss, though.

When I won her favor by killing everyone else in the fops tournament, she invited me to her quarters.
“Oh boy, a cut-to-black crazy sex scene might be on the way” I thought.
Nah, instead she had me play house with her using a miniature house with little dolls.
I tried to get her to remember her past self and have her memories become coherent using the house and dolls in a scenario my character described, so she could remember more than strange glimpses. She eventually became quite upset and told me I had to leave. Yes, I savescummed to see what the different choices would do.
There’s not much of a wiki for the game though, just some (incomplete) guides, so I am not sure.. if I did the correct thing.
It’s too late to savescum this. I’ll see what happens. I might not report back because it would be a major spoiler.

If you ever played Baldur’s Gate 1/2, Fallout 1/2, or some other CRPG, it’s very similar to those. It’s not a tactical turn-based game like XCOM or w/e with cover mechanics. But combat is turn-based.

If you're gonna pirate it then try it out.
It's basically STALKER but in the 70's, and the exclusion zone is an alien dome that arrived out of nowhere and in order to properly reckon with it, governments around the world agreed to normalize relations to better study it.
Every person that goes in is a one-way trip; but they can send data from their findings out to the world.
I will just say an *event* happens within the dome, and it becomes a post-apocalypse - within the dome.
You're stuck in there. You were part of one of the wings of the CRONUS organization.
Orange - reformed criminals-turned-cheap-labor-force
Blue - maintenance men and engineers
White - scientists and explorers
Silver - bureaucrats
Black - military/security personnel
Even past the prologue, which wing you were in can be used to influence interactions at times.
