It’s incredible how making an early 00’s Aqua button is essentially Lost Art. Even back then it was challenging, but the challenge was… reproducing the reference instead of approximating it than saying “close enough”. It was about a dozen of steps in Photoshop, done destructively, no layer styles.
Now you see people constantly trying to remake it in pure CSS, but CSS can’t do it. In vector software, but vector absolutely can’t reasonably do it. With layer styles, but layer styles aren’t enough. Finding the knowledge how to do it today would be impossible, buried under a pile of “close enough”

IFTAS have made a blog post specifying that:
Their collaborators are not “employees” but “contractors” (a technical distinction regarding US employment laws that changes nothing to this story)
“Unacceptable online behaviour” made them sever ties with the “contractors” (they did not mention it entailed death threats against trans women and attack videos).
They continue to openly promote anti-LGBTQIA+ blocklists by someone who took issue with our experiences as survivors of rape, as explained in my article.

A bit at a loss where to start given that i only ever design functional items
My general idea is… big blobby body done in yellow filament with big grooves you can paint with an acrylic paint (posca etc) for the eyes/nose/mouth
little notches in the head to insert brown ears to super glue to it (maybe with some kinda self-locking compliant design thing)
and maybe a version of the ears with notches to add glasses?

I urge we no longer tolerate IFTAS Inc at the table in questions of community safety. This nonprofit company purports to provide “Trust and Safety” for Bluesky and Mastodon, yet are the source of the very sort of harm Trust and Safety is supposed to prevent.
I do not suggest a defederation or fediblock, which makes zero sense here, but that Queer Fedi spheres must make it clear this adversarial company has zero buy-in from us, and should not be tolerated at the table when we discuss questions of Trust and Safety.
Instead of allowing this nonprofit to talk over us, the Fediverse community must critically re-assess the incredible cruelty normalized in our backchannels politics, causing Queer Fedi administrators to face a true mental health crisis, leading many of our administrators to quit for their mental safety constantly.

The whole point of closed captions for someone like me (auditory processing disorder, not deaf) is that they hugely relieve the mental workload to follow along the sounds. The second you start adding some animation to every single line you negate that benefit

Just logged in to my Sharkey alt to see what’s the deal with the recent update.
I was asked if i brushed my teeth and was given the Toothbrusher and the Hygienic achievements.
The achievement was automatically broadcasted to the global timeline and six girls asked me to bite them over ActivityPub.
It seemed a bit weird because i don’t know them like that, but i still tried to press the button to bite one user whom i actually know.
However i was told that i need to give Sharkey-fe WebUSB authorization before i can press the bite button then it asked me to plug in my haptic mouthpiece via USB.
However due to a security issue my wi-fi toaster was hacked and it started to burn a pride flag into the toast that was in it (due to the limitations of this monochromatic medium i couldn’t ascertain if it was a trans flag or a different one.) I use arch btw.
