Is there a word for when Help comes to your door and you hesitate because others have come claiming the same but turned out to be Deception or Distraction in disguise but you invite her in and hear her out and find there may be wisdom in her words so you sit down to try to put her advice into action when you discover Self-Doubt snuck in behind her and is watching judgmentally over your shoulder so you politely escort him outside and get back to work only to find he's watching you through the window so you get up to close the blinds and remember they were broken and you took them down and haven't gotten around to replacing them yet and you think no wonder my writing is no good when I can't even handle simple things like keeping the blinds in good repair and you're tempted to say, "You're right, Self-Doubt, I should give up" but instead you put on a brave face and say, "Watch me all you want, you don't bother me, I'll just keep doing my thing" but you and he both know he's getting to you but you do your best to re-engage and you do manage to get back into it even if it's not quite the same as it was but on reflection in some ways maybe things are better than they were? What's the word for that?
I'll go with persistent.

25. You're going on a creative retreat. What's the most important thing you need to bring with you?
If it's a writing retreat, then probably a laptop. For art, maybe sketchbook(s), pencils, possibly laptop and digital drawing pad.
Outside of materials, I would want to bring my magical llama of inspiration. It's in one of my memory pockets in a muckier part of my mind, so I would want to call it forth for the occasion.

yeah, I would say my thoughts are continuous and in varying states of focus. Even as my attention is on trying to compose an answer to this question, there are a bunch of other thoughts going on in the periphery and waiting for their chance to be the main focus. I'm curious about other people's experiences. Sometimes I feel like I want to have more deliberate downtime for my brain, but I don't know.

the idea behind the question is not that there are times when you're not thinking, but I'm trying to differentiate between times a person is thinking with intent, things like how am I going to solve this problem, what am I going to do at this time or this day, etc, as opposed to I'm just going to give my mind time to relax and think about whatever. As is often the case, seeing how people interpret the question is part of what makes it interesting to me.

I used Draft2Digital and made it available through every platform they offer. The vast majority of my sales have come from Amazon, even though I had hoped to minimize them. I don't think any libraries have picked it up yet, which was something I was hoping for.

the sale price didn't make a difference. Nearly all my sales came around my release date. I had a couple in September, I think as a result of a self-promo I did here. When I didn't get any sales at all in October, I decided to try lowering the price. It didn't make a difference. I should probably try to promote outside fedi, but I haven't felt motivated, so if I'm being real with myself, if I want more readers, I have to do more than just feel bad that they're not there.

as the month is going along, it never feels like I'm accomplishing much (and compared to some people who pack in an amazing amount of work in a month, that's true), but at the end of the month when I reflect back on it, I usually find I actually did more than I thought.

#WordWeavers Nov 1. Describe a perfect reader for your story (i.e. who is the story for?)
Her name is Elle and she lives in a converted garage apartment with her newly adopted cat. She already read one of my books, and though she was more interested in the writing in the margins than the book itself, she is an avid reader and might appreciate some of my other writing. Her book has already been (mostly) written, and I don't expect a sequel, but I can still imagine her reading my other books.

I'd like help. @npub1wsm…3z93 had several marketing suggestions, including putting stickers in strategic places like college campuses, used book stores, &c. I'm not confident it will sell a lot of books, but I love the idea of people finding my book through a sticker they saw. 12. If you could visit a fictional world, would you? If so, which one?
Not sure. Fictional worlds tend to be dangerous, as readers/viewers like conflict and peril. Not that the real world isn't dangerous, too. Maybe a beer and a meal at the Prancing Pony during peaceful times. Swing by Milliways to watch the Gib Grab. Hm, where else? It seems I'm going on a fictional food and drink tour. Any recommendations?

it occurs to me that knowing the author has two meanings for me. Many of the authors I've read recently are people that I know on a more personal level from interactions on this site. Historically, though, it was more the sense of knowing their work from previous books I had read.
