So this is a quite nice screenshot (enhancement/annotation) tool for the Linux lovers out there.

sounds intriguing, what weird federation? (I'm using the Mastodon app like I mentioned so I'm not defending Pachli/Tusky since I don't really use them.)
I think whatever content/posts you get in your app isn't related to which app though. I think its related to your server. In your case bardicperspiration.club and in my case folkdata.se. The app just displays what the server "serves" it has influence over what is fetched or not. At least I think so.

ja, det är dystra utsikter. Jag har inte lyckats hitta någon vinkel på hur man ska tänka runt det här. Inget kommer att vara sant i framtiden (deepfake för foto och film etc).
Men det känns som att borde finnas någon slags tanke att formulera runt det här och hur det kommer att balanseras upp av någon annan utveckling. Den tanken undgår mig dock ännu.
Det skrämmande för mig är hur många som verkar tro att gen AI ger ifrån sig fakta. Det gör den inte. Den har inte en susning om fakta

det här kommer nog tyvärr att bli vanligt. Folk verkar inte begripa att en LLM (AI) inte har någon relation till fakta och logik, utan endast fogar samman strukturer som har rätt sorts mönster utifrån ett genomsnitt. Det som låter rätt, inte det som är rätt.

Where people could enjoy recreation, but also have meetings to educate themselves about the political analysis of social democracy. These were public spaces under their own control. Because city parks at the time didn't allow poor people access.

from what I've seen so far today, this is a great idea. And great execution so far. You should put up a ko-fi and (eventually when you find the time) create governance around this project. It seems really really good.
Similar to, but not at all like Friendica. Never managed to make Friendica work well, but this seems very promising. (Not their fault, probably too much legacy stuff in the project)

The "trending" on mastodon.social is usually fun. I wish one could get that on your own server. It should in theory just be grabbing a feed with posts and display them, so not that complicated. Right now mine is just empty.

I completely understand if you like to interact over the bridge. And everyone should decide individually what's best for them.
But I (almost) never had any interactions back from bsky:ers. It feels like they live in a different and highschool-like atmosphere. (Also I would like people to leave VC owned US based platforms.)

vi behöver beskatta förmögenhet. Att shackra runt med olika nivåer av stöd hit och dit inom arbetar- och medelklassen är verkningslöst. Vi behöver återföra pengar från de superrika tillbaka till att kunna jobba i samhällsekonomin och skapa välstånd för alla istället för att läggas på hög hos få individer.

And while we're on the topic of desktop UI. I will never in a million years get used to the pattern of clicking reply and then the text area appearing to the top left from the post I clicked on. It's a very unusual pattern.
It's even worse when you edit a post, because then the post appears center of the screen, the original one, then it appears twice to the left. Once as the "previous version" (I assume), same as in the center. And then once again below, to actually edit. /end rant 😃

Can you turn off the automatic continuos updates in the "home" feed when you're using a desktop browser. It stresses me out and I can't read because things keep being shoved away. It's better on mobile.

It's shocking that no funding exists, from EU or national level, for a mobile OS that is not controlled by foreign actors. Especially since it's a low hanging fruit. Everything is already there, just needs that funding to be mature for a consumer market.

What's the deal with browser notifications from websites. Why is it always something you have to turn down? You visit a site for the first time in your life and before you can even see what it's like and what content it has you're supposed to give them a pipeline straight into your OS level notifications? It's just so weird. I've never ever wanted notifications for anything.
I'm sure #JohnMastodon would have designed this better.

I struggle to understand why the EU commission is recommending people to use X. How else should the fact that the X logo is plastered all over their (our) web site be interpreted. It's a deeply irresponsible and harmful use of their power of influence.
After all that's happened and after all the pleading and campaigning by citizens. This is the kind of thing that truly makes you lose faith.
I can't even bring myself to tag them in this post. There's no point anyway.

jag vågar knappt säga det, men kanske testa Mastodon-appen, bara för att se om det är någon skillnad. Jag har aldrig riktigt kommit in i Tusky/Pachli just på grund av de där frysta tidslinjerna, även om jag har Pachli som jämförelse. (Jag visste inte om att det fanns andra appar till en början och blev van vid Mastodons egen.)
