At Bitcoin In The Wild we believe in supporting innovative technologies that can help protect wildlife and ecosystems. Just like Bitcoin in its early days, drone technologies often start small but have the potential to create powerful change.
Drone technology is one of the tools that is now transforming conservation efforts. Through this initiative , we support conservation work using advanced drone technology. Last year we donated a drone to @TFAfrica , and it is now fully in use.
At the moment, it is capturing aerial views to monitor changes in land-based vegetation 🌿. This is especially important after the recent flooding that caused significant damage in the reserve, helping conservation teams better understand the impact on the ecosystem.

Our team visited The Black Mambas female rangers last year before Christmas together with @npub10vu…8djm
These incredible women protect wildlife even through the holidays, spending Christmas away from home & their kids. Check out video 🎄🤩 ⬇️
We had the privilege of meeting some of the female Mambas rangers’ children and asking them a few questions. It was truly heartwarming to hear them speak with pride about their mothers, even though they miss them dearly.
People living in townships surrounding Krugerpark SA lack computers & decent economic insights. Bitcoin can make a difference!

We had the incredible opportunity to interview the students from the Bushbabies, diving deeper into their perspectives on life in communities next to wildlife. We listened to their thoughts on what matters most to them and how they view Environmental Education as part of their daily lives.

January 24th is the start of the Bitcoin Conference @npub1p0x…deeh in SA 🎉
We were there last year & visited the @npub1zkr…k6ec Bitcoin Ekasi project together with Valeria, media manager at Trznsfrontier Africa & Tsakane, anti-poaching ranger. She is now part of the educational team!
Thanks to our @npub1kmw…xqk9 fundraiser we were able to fund their trip to the conference:

True. Funding for wildlife conservation, including national parks, are indeed already a problem. After the pandemic most subsidies to private initiatives were abolished. This will even become a bigger issue with fiat over time.
It’s important though to acknowledge the positive impact that both public and private conservation efforts can still have. Conservation strategies are evolving, and new models, like community-led conservation or partnerships with private organizations, are showing promise.
We still believe that local privately funded conservation initiatives can help and can offer innovative solutions, funded with bitcoin. Collaboration with government remains important.

During our visit to Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre (HESC) last month, the heat was intense, and the baby rhinos found comfort huddling close together in the shade.
They spend their days in the reserve, being nurtured and cared for until they are ready to return to the wild. Among them was Angie, a little rhino receiving her feeding session. We’ll share more about her soon.
This visit also brought back memories of Esmé, a rhino we first met five years ago when she was just a baby.
At that time, HESC was thriving, supported by many visitors who helped sustain its vital work. However, as with many NGOs in South Africa, the outbreak of COVID-19 brought significant challenges, reducing support and making their mission even harder.
Despite these difficulties, Esmé has flourished. Today, she plays a crucial role as an allomother, providing care and guidance to the orphaned baby rhinos that arrive at the center. Her nurturing presence is invaluable, and she remains at HESC to help the little ones thrive.
Esmé’s story is a beautiful reminder of resilience, hope, and the impact of dedicated care.
With Bitcoin for conservation under the umbrella of @npub19vz…fwka we help these little rhinos thrive again!
