I had chickenpox. Survived, as many kids do. Have scars all over. I also have a tear duct that intermittently doesn’t work because of scarring.
I had a supposedly otherwise healthy adult in residency get chickenpox. She developed disseminated zoster. Eyes, brain, kidneys, you name it.
So anyway, the antivax losers are going to learn some things, but unfortunately, so will the rest of us.

Hope nobody thought they were gonna buy fresh produce this fall. We’re spending your tax dollars to pay prison contractors to build prisons for hundreds of thousands of people. Nobody will be there to plant, weed, water, and harvest. Oh, and when they finish with immigrants, the prison machine will need bodies in those beds to keep making a profit. Final medical post for the night — I often am asked what people should carry in their car or have at home to save lives.
1. Tourniquets (and know how to use them). I recommend the NAR brand CAT because they work and don’t break.
2. Naloxone. In the US, it is over-the-counter now. Until the opioid pandemic goes away (which is happening!), this is a big way you could save someone you find down and out.
Most other stuff doesn’t save lives or is too technically challenging to use well.

Hospitals in Denver have all pulled their care for transgender patients. The Feds made it impossible to bill the government for ANY care rendered if you also provide this care. Hospitals have all decided to sacrifice trans adults and kids to preserve the hospitals.
The problem with this strategy is that the bad guys will come for contraception, HIV care, immigrants in hospitals. They’ll keep making us sacrifice one group at a time.

Hate your health insurer? Not into assassinating the CEO yet? One thing you can try if they deny a claim is asking for the name and state of licensure of the doc who denied your claim. Know that often there isn’t actually a doc doing the denials, but if there is, and IF they give you the info, you can file a medical board complaint against that doc. Rules vary widely by state, but for instance here in CO the board is required to open an investigation for every report.
